Alex Rodriguez is not in the Yankees lineup on Monday.

A-Rod is struggling to the tune of .223 this season but it's a little different if you look at the splits for hin. Versus RHP he is hitting it at a .200 clip whereas it's .275 vs. LHP, which is why Manager Joe Girardi said, after Sunday's game, that he would sit Rodriguez against righties. With Chi Chi Gonzalez, a righty, starting for Texas on Monday, Beltran will grab the DH spot for the game. A-Rod should see time against Cole Hamels on Tuesday.

Carlos Santana is not in Monday's starting lineup.

Cleveland is in Atlanta to open a series on Monday and with the NL lineups in place, there is no place for a DH spot. Mike Napoli is starting at first base on Monday as Santana gets the night off. It also doesn't hurt that he's played 73 of 74 games this season and could use the rest. He should get a chance to play against the Braves at first base.

Brandon Workman (Tommy John) threw a bullpen session Monday with no reported problems.

He had been working at extended spring training but is now at short-season Lowell continuing his rehab from the elbow surgery. Being a reliever is a good thing in this case as they don't tend to need quite as much rehab time as starters do typically so he could be ready after the All-Star break if things keep progressing well.

Stephen Strasburg went for an MRI Monday. Dusty baker said the team was still waiting for the results.

Strasburg had missed two straight starts before they put him on the DL with what was described as back/rib issue. He reportedly had two ribs pop out of place while lifting weights and now they are just trying to make sure the severity is what they think it is and nothing more. If he does wind up missing a significant amount of time, Austin Voth could be looking at a call-up from Triple-A Syracuse. Updates will follow once results come in.

Braves designate RHP Alexi Ogando for assignment.

Ogando has been struggling this season with a 3.94 ERA and 1.72 WHIP in the relief spot and has 23 walks to 29 strikeouts in 32 innings pitched. Mauricio Cabrera will take his spot on the 40-man roster and the Braves will have 10 days to trade, release, or outright Ogando now that he's been DFA'd.

Braves recall RHP Mauricio Cabrera from Double-A Mississippi.

Cabrera was sent to the minors after a rough showing in spring training this year but has been solid in relief for the Mississippi affiliate. He has posted a 3.20 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with 35 Ks in 33 1/3 innings at Double-A and will get a shot to see what he can do on the senior circuit. He won't be anything but a middle relief candidate for Atlanta.
