Cory Spangenberg (quad) isn't close to returning just yet.

Spangenberg is eligible to come off the DL on May 5th, but that does not seem to be the Padres' expectation for their young second baseman at this point. Jemile Weeks has been seeing most of the playing time in Spangenberg's place.

Padres manager Andy Green said Yangervis Solarte (hamstring) isn't close to returning yet.

Solarte got off to a strong start for the Padres, going 6-for-16 with three doubles and three walks before a hamstring injury took him out of action in the fifth game of the season. He has been on the DL ever since and is apparently still not ready to go on a rehab assignment. Solarte is likely looking at another two or three weeks before returning to third base in San Diego. In the meantime, Adam Rosales should continue to see most of the action at the hot corner.

Stephen Curry's two week time frame sets up a possible return for Game 4 in the second round as the date of that game marks the two week mark from his injury.

Curry is still unable to run or shoot, but reports are he was walking around without a limp and in high spirits Friday. The 2014-15 MVP expressed optimism over returning to the court within the two-week estimated time of recovery from his sprained knee or possibly sooner. The Warriors' second-round series against the Blazers is set to begin Sunday afternoon.

Andre Roberts is not expected to stay on the Redskins roster.

Roberts had a fairly productive season as the Redskins' main slot man in 2014, but he fell behind rookie Jamison Crowder in the passing game last season. Roberts now seems completely expendable with the addition of former TCU star Josh Doctson to the receiving corps.

DeMarcus Cousins said that his feet bother him more every year.

Cousins has dealt with foot tendinitis for quite some time now. According to the enigmatic star, that condition apparently bothers him more and more every season. Cousins has been an All-Star in each of the past two years, averaging 25.6 points, 12.0 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and 1.5 steals overall during that span. However, he has managed to play just 59 and 65 games respectively.

Jake Arrieta and the Cubs remain far apart on long-term contract talks.

It certainly makes sense that the Cubs would like to ink Arrieta to a long-term deal. It makes even more sense that the Cy Young award winner would play hard to get. Arrieta is making $10.7M this season and has one more arbitration year remaining before potentially reaching free agency after the 2017 campaign.

Pablo Prigioni will likely retire this offseason.

Prigioni did not come to the NBA until age 35, and after four seasons in the States, he appears to be ready to hang it up. The nearly 39-year-old guard from Argentina averaged 3.5 points, 2.8 assists and 1.0 steal over 270 NBA games between the Knicks, Rockets and Clippers.

Edwin Escobar has been optioned to Triple-A Reno.

Claimed off of waivers from the Red Sox on Friday, Escobar will now make his way to Triple-A Reno. The 24-year-old lefty was once a highly-touted prospect who appeared in two games for the Red Sox back in 2014.

Redskins coach Jay Gruden has stated that Trent Murphy will play defensive end this season.

Murphy started 15 games for the Redskins this past season, getting in on 32 tackles and recording 3.5 sacks. He will apparently slide up and spend most of his time on the defensive line in 2016.
