Terron Ward Headshot

Ward sustained neck and shoulder injuries and was a limited participant at practice Thursday, D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The fact Ward was still a limited participant suggests the injuries aren't overly serious, but his status for Sunday's game against the Lions is unclear. The 25-year-old is mostly a special teams player at this point, and Atlanta's offensive gameplan is unlikely to change much in his absence.
5:10 pm (EST)
Manny Piña (R) Headshot

Pina is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cubs.

As has been the case recently, Pina will give way to Stephen Vogt behind the dish with a right-handed pitcher (Jake Arrieta) toeing the rubber for the opposition. Expect Pina to be available off the bench as a defensive replacement.
5:08 pm (EST)
Jesse James Headshot

James (ankle) returned to a limited practice Thursday.

James is trending in the right direction as Sunday's game against the Bears approaches, but we'll have to see if he draws an official questionable designation for the contest come Friday, or is simply removed from the Steelers' Week 3 injury report.
5:08 pm (EST)
Jack Campbell Headshot

Campbell will start between the pipes in Thursday's game against the Ducks, Curtis Zupke of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Darcy Kuemper is locked in as Jonathan Quick's backup for the 2017-18 campaign, but Campbell will get plenty of work as AHL Ontario's starting netminder this season. The 2010 first-round pick put up respectable numbers while shouldering a heavy load in the minors in 2016-17, compiling a 31-15-6 record while posting a 2.52 GAA and .914 save percentage in 52 appearances.
5:06 pm (EST)
Miguel Sano (R) Headshot

Sano (lower leg) is "unlikely" to return before the end of the regular season, according to manager Paul Molitor, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports.

Sano just hasn't been able to make many strides during his recovery up to this point, and Molitor has come to the realization that it's becoming even more and more unlikely that he'll be able to rejoin the club this month. Molitor also stated that there isn't any sort of deadline date in which Sano has to return or else he's shut down, which likely has everything to do with the fact that the Twins are fighting for the second wild-card berth in the American League. Needless to say, there remains no timetable for his recovery at this moment. In the meantime, Sano will continue to receive treatments and mix in baseball activities when he can, according to LaVelle E. Neal of the Star Tribune.
5:06 pm (EST)
Orlando Arcia (R) Headshot

Arcia is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cubs.

Arcia will open on the bench for a second time in six games as manager Craig Counsell continues to give Eric Sogard starts around the infield. The 23-year-old has turned in a respectable .271/.364/.354 line with seven RBI and a 9:7 K:BB through 18 games in September.
5:01 pm (EST)
Damien Williams Headshot

Williams (ribs) practiced fully Thursday.

Williams is off the fantasy radar as long as Jay Ajayi is healthy enough to play. With that in mind, Ajayi has miss back-to-back practices, but the knee issue that's slowed him this week is not considered serious.
4:56 pm (EST)
Jeff Allen Headshot

Allen (ankle) did not practice again Thursday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Allen has not practiced since sustaining the injury in the Texans' season opener and now reportedly could be out a few more games, as well. It has yet to be confirmed by the team, but the 27-year-old doesn't seem likely to play against the Patriots on Sunday, regardless.
4:55 pm (EST)
LeSean McCoy Headshot

McCoy, who missed Wednesday's practice as a scheduled rest day, practiced fully Thursday, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.

McCoy was listed with a (wrist) next to his name, but that's seemingly soreness stemming from a Week 1 ding, just like the minor groin issue that sidelined him for a practice next week. The Buffalo offense revolves around McCoy, plan and simple, and rest days are going to be part of his routine throughout the season.
4:54 pm (EST)
Tashaun Gipson Headshot

Gipson (ankle) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Edward Lee of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Gipson sat out Wednesday's practice, so his return Thursday, even on a limited basis, is a good sign heading into the weekend. Gipson played all 68 defensive snaps for the Jaguars in their Week 2 loss to the Titans despite the injury, so the team is likely just taking precautionary measures with the cornerback heading into this week's matchup with the Ravens.
