The fine is surely chump change to Beckham but the real news is that he's facing a potential suspension if he gets another unsportsmanlike penalty. Hopefully, he can keep things clean the rest of the way because it would be unfortunate for him to miss a game due to unsportsmanlike conduct plays.
Giles was hit in the wrist by a line drive on a scary play but x-rays came back negative and it appears as though he's available out of the bullpen today. The 26-year-old has recorded 13 saves and 18 holds this season while posting a 4.31 ERA and 1.28 WHIP.
A trip to Dr. James Andrews is never good news for a pitcher, but at any rate, it appears as though De La Rosa's season is over. De La Rosa tore his MCL and opted to go for rehab instead of surgery but he might need surgery after all. At this point, all we can do is speculate but we should know more about his condition over the next few days. The 27-year-old started 10 games this season and posted a 4.26 ERA and a 9.59 K/9.
The switch-hitting Marte will take a seat today as the Mariners face off against left-hander Hector Santiago and the Twins. Marte is hitting just .211 against left-handed pitching this season, so it makes sense that he'd be out of the lineup today. Shawn O'Malley will start at shortstop in Marte's absence and is hitting ninth for the Mariners.
