White Sox signed 1B Chris Jacobs to a minor league deal.

Jacobs has shown some power in Triple-A, hitting 25 homers in 451 AB for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes in the Dodgers' system. He hit .266 with a nice 75:117 BB/K ratio and drove in 94 runs in 126 games at High-A.rn

White Sox have agreed to terms with George Kottaras.

Kottaras is the consummate back-up. He never merits any fantasy attention as he doesn't see regular playing time, but he could see some back-up time with the Pale Hose who always seem to struggle at the position lately.

White Sox sign LHP Zach Phillips to a minor league deal.

Phillips spent last season in the Japanese Central League but his last stint in the MLB was with the Marlins in 2013. While his three appearances in 2013 gives him some MLB experience which could help with playing time, it is very unlikely he makes a major impact this season.

Melky Cabrera passed his physical and the deal is official.

This will likely go down as one of the most underrated signings of the offseason, as Melky has quietly established himself as one of the best outfielders in the bigs over the past few seasons. This signing coupled with the acquisitions of Jeff Samardzija, David Robertson, and Adam LaRoche, make the White Sox instant contenders in the American League Central.

Though not yet confirmed by the team, reliable sources have reported that Melky Cabrera has agreed to a three-year deal with the White Sox, pending a physical.

When last we left Melky, he was fighting for a five-year deal with the mariners. But apparently, when he finally accepted the fact that no one was going to give him that long of a contract, he immediately grabbed what is likely his best three-year offer from a team with an extremely favorable hitter's park. Monetary terms have no been disclosed but early speculation has it somewhere around $45 million. If you're a Melky fan, then this is a great move for fantasy purposes as he is likely to bat second in a lineup that features the power of Jose Abreu and Adam LaRoche.

Mariners have not made recent progress on a deal for White Sox OF Dayan Viciedo.

Viciedo is a big time swing for the fences type player who hit 21 home runs last season but also finished with a .281 OBP.

The Marlins sent Dan Jennings to the WhiteSox in exchange for reliever Andre Rienzo.

Jennings went 0-2 with a 1.34 ERA in 47 games out of the Marlins bullpen last season while Rienzo went 4-5 with a 6.82 ERA over 18 games while making 11 starts for the White Sox.

There's now an open competition at second base between Carlos Sanchez and Micah Johnson for the White Sox.

Sanchez played 110 games at Triple-A last season hitting .293 with 60 runs, seven home runs, 57 RBI and 16 stolen bases. Johnson played 102 games between Double-A and Triple-A last season hitting .294 with 48 runs, five home runs, 44 RBI and 22 stolen bases.

White Sox manager Robin Ventura says Jake Petricka deserves first shot at being David Robertson's primary set-up man.

While the team's closer job is locked up, the White Sox will need to figure out the rest of their bullpen. Petricka made 67 appearances for Chicago last year and posted a 2.96 ERA. His WHIP and K/9 numbers left a lot to be desired, but those are both things that he should be able to improve on.

White Sox have officially announced the David Robertson signing.

Robertson signed a four-year, $46 million dollar deal with the White Sox and will be the proven arm that the team needs in the back of their bullpen. As for his fantasy value, Robertson will likely be right in line with what he was last season when he posted a 3.09 ERA with 39 saves and 96 strikeouts in 64 1/3 innings pitched. He's easily a top 10 option and should be drafted accordingly.
