Tiago Splitter has a strained right soleus and will be re-evaluated in 7-to-10 days.

Soleus is a fancy word for calf, so Splitter has a strained right calf and will be out a week or two. This injury doesn't sound serious and Splitter is still worth a late round pick in fantasy drafts.

Cory Joseph will be Tony Parker's backup to start the season.

While Patty Mills was Parker's back up last season, he's out until late December or later with rotator cuff surgery. Last year Joseph got 5.0 ppg, 1.6 rpg, and 1.7 apg in just 13.8 minutes.

Boris Diaw has been excused from the first part of camp. He'll meet the team in Berlin.

There's been no reason given for Diaw's absence from the first part of camp, so it's obviously for personal reasons. He averaged 9.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 0.6 steals, 0.4 blocks, and 0.6 three-pointers in 25 minutes per game through 79 games last season,so the Spurs obviously expect him to fill a significant role this season. We'll await word form the team should they release information regarding his absence.

Coach Gregg Popovich says Manu Ginobili has been practicing for about a week and looks good.

Ginobili is still recovering from the stress fracture in his leg that was diagnosed last season during the playoffs. He stayed out of the World Cup for basketball this summer to heal, and the team expects him to be a full-go for training camp this year.

Spurs expected to re-sign Aron Baynes.

Baynes came in when the Spurs were up, or down big, and he played pretty well during garbage time. Spurs do a great job of retaining their players, as well as developing them.

Josh Davis and the Spurs agreed to a non-guaranteed contract.

Non-guaranteed contract status screams that he must play extremely well to make the team. Wait and see on the forward.

ESPN sources say that the Shanghai Sharks are among teams in China making a hard push to sign C Aron Baynes away from San Antonio.

If Baynes heads to Shanghai then there is zero fantasy value to be had here. Keep an eye in how this develops.

Manu Ginobili says no rift with Spurs, could continue playing after this season.

Manu Ginobili said in an interview on Saturday that he is "98 percent" sure he won't play for the Argentinian national team. Ginobili went on to say that he only feels pain in his right leg from the stress fracture when jumping, pushing, or coming to a hard stop on the floor, otherwise he is pain free. Manu should be healthy by the start of the 2014-15 season.
