The New Orleans Saints signed free-agent DE Tyrone Ezell.

Ezell was recently released by the Texans and will attempt to make the Saints' final roster; it is most definitely a long shot.

Cheta Ozougwu has been placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

The former "Mr. Irrelevant" has bounced around to various organizations and it's unknown whether he'll stick with the Saints given his current health woes.

John Jenkins (pectoral) has been placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list.

Jenkins had predicted that he would be ready to go for the start of training camp, so this is unexpected. As a 16 game starter for the Saints last season, he will be a tough big bocy to replace.

Saints waived rookie DT Moses McCray.

McCray went to Akron and was trying to make the Saints after going undrafted in the NFL draft. His NFL career could be over, before it ever began, if no other team signs McCray.

Saints safety Jairus Byrd's recovery from back surgery has gone as expected this summer, Mike Tripplet of ESPN.com reports.

Considering Saints coach Sean Payton said that he expected Byrd to be ready for training camp and everything seems to be moving right along schedule, all seems to be well in New Orleans, at least football-wise. Byrd, who has 22 interceptions over 73 career games, is expected to be a major contributor in IDP leagues even after the surgery, so keep him and the progress he makes on your radar.

Saints are already impressed with rookie receiver Brandin Cooks and are tallking about him as a Rookie of the Year candidate.

Let the hype machine begin! If the Saints keep talking about Cooks this way, his ADP is going to shoot through the roof and there will be literally no chance at getting him at a bargain rate. Rookie receivers often have difficulty making an impact in their first year so it's tough to buy into what the Saints are saying. However, if there was ever a situation that would give hope to this, it would be the Saints. Drew Brees has old stand-bys like Jimmy Graham and Marques Colston, but form there, the receiving corps tends to thin out just a bit. Kenny Stills remains a bit of a question mark and after that you've got Nick Toon and the always under-performing Robert Meachem. Cooks should definitely be on your radar and in your potential game plan, but just beware the cost.

Champ Bailey is projected as the Saints starting cornerback opposite Keenan Lewis, but a healthy, top-notch performance at training camp will be needed to make that projection a reality.

Bailey is heading into his 16th season of pro ball, and at the age of 36, he's certainly no spring chicken. His days as a lock-down corner are certainly numbered, but don't count him out until his legs collapse from underneath him. No matter his age/condition, he should be beneficial to the Saints weak secondary.
