Rockies sign John Lannan to a minor-league deal.

Lannan was limited to five appearances in 2014 with the Mets, rolling up an astoundingly horrific 15.75 ERA and 2.25 WHIP over four innings, although to his credit he did manage to rack up a win and a hold in limitied action. He is a stopgap measure for the Rockies, someone to have on the farm to bring up in case of injury or the need for a spot starter. You would have to be in a mighty deep league to consider rostering him.

Brett Marshall signs a minor-league deal with the Rockies.

Marshall was an ineffective starting pitcher at Triple-A Louisville in 2014, going 1-10 in 16 games (15 starts) with a 6.53 ERA and 1.83 WHIP. He only struck out 7.57 per nine innings last season, and obviously does not blow away hitters with his high 80's fastball, and walking 6.55 batters per nine last season really hurt his production. Not exactly the kind of pitcher that should call Coors Field home, you would think.

Rockies designated RHP Juan Nicasio for assignment.

The Rockies have been very patient with Nicasio, but injuries and control problems have defined much of his early career. He'll get bumped from the 40-man roster for now and, if able, could refuse the assignment and opt for free agency.

Rockies have acquired RHP Shane Carle from the Pirates in exchange for RHP Rob Scahill.

Either the Rockies see something in Carle that doesn't come across in his performance just yet or they're so convinced that Scahill has no upside at all. Scahill has bounced between Triple-A and the majors over the last three seasons with nothing more than a 4.42 career ERA and a weak strikeout rate. Carle has gotten as high as High-A but with an incredibly weak strikeout rate. Neither is someone fantasy owners should be considering.

According to ESPN NY, Troy Tulowitzki to the Mets is not happening due to the money owed and Colorado's asking price.

That's understandable. There are still three years left on the seven-year, $134M deal that Tulowitzki signed back in 2010 and considering his chronic health issues, there are few teams willing to pick up the money and take that risk. On top of that, the Rockies are looking for a substantial package of young players in return so the price gets even steeper than just the money. The Rockies are probably better off waiting until closer to the trade deadline as more teams may be willing to take a risk if the playoffs are a more guaranteed payoff.

Rockies are willing to listen to offers involving Troy Tulowitzki and Carlos Gonzalez.

Well of course they'd be willing to listen to offers. Both players are incredibly talented superstars, but neither one is capable of staying healthy for an entire season. If another team is willing to offer up a high-quality package, the Rockies should certainly explore the possibilities.

Rockies named Steve Foster as pitching coach and Darren Holmes as bullpen coach.

The Rockies kept manager Walt Weiss despite a disappointing season. He had to make changes within his coaching staff and he has decided to make Steve Foster his new pitching coach and Darren Holmes his new bullpen coach. Pitching is always difficult in Colorado, so wish these men godspeed!
