Jason Pridie has elected free agency.

Pridie is a journeyman minor leaguer who is never going to have any value in real or fantasy baseball. Teams keep him around for farm depth these days.

Rockies right-hander Eddie Butler pulled out of his planned Arizona Fall League assignment Tuesday after meeting with the club's training staff.

Butler is currently dealing with some back pain, so he'll meet with trainers and probably a pitching coach or two who he's worked with before in the past to see if it's because of his mechanics. Often times, pitchers who suffer shoulder or elbow injuries (Butler had a rotator cuff strain) alter their mechanics to alleviate some of the tension and pain and that results in putting a strain somewhere else. He'll be examined and maybe they'll be able to quickly fix the problems.

Wilton Lopez has elected free agency rather than his outright assignment.

Lopez struggled in Colorado, but he has a chance to be a useful bullpen piece in new surroundings.

Jair Jurrjens has elected free agency rather than his outright assignment.

Some team is going to sign Jurrjens based on potential alone, but he gave up 11 earned runs in only 9.1 innings pitched in 2014. Want nothing to do with him in any fantasy format in 2015.

Eddie Butler experienced shoulder soreness Sunday morning, a day after he made his final start of the season.

The time off will do him some good, but obviously, given his importance to the club, the club will run every test they need to ensure that they have not only diagnosed but also a game plan in place to prevent it from happening again.

Josh Rutledge went 3-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored in the Rockies loss to the Dodgers on Sunday.

Three more hits for Rutledge today raises his season average to .269 for the 2014 season. He also launched four home runs and totaled 33 RBIs for the year. While filling in for Tulo at shortstop, it will be interesting to see what they decide to do with Rutledge. Until that is further defined, Rutledge remains not worthy of drafting in 2015. For 2014, he did well replacing Tulo but it was an all-around disappointing season for the Colorado Rockies.

Rafael Ynoa went 1-for-4 with a double and three RBI in the Rockies loss to the Dodgers on Sunday.

While Ynoa has done a solid job stepping in for Colorado, his chances of starting next for Colorado is slim unless they get rid of some players. The third base job is Nolan Arenado's and it seems to be that Colorado likes to play Ben Paulsen at first base, when Justin Morneau doesn't play. The dude can flat out hit, so they should try to find a way to play him. He could be worth a late-round flier if they are committed to playing him regularly, but that is the big issue. In 19 games, he hit .343 with 13 RBIs.

Christian Bergman fell to 3-5 after giving up eight runs (seven earned) on 11 hits and no walks with four strikeouts over 5.1 innings in the Rockies loss to the Dodgers on Sunday.

Bergman's final start to 2014 is one he is going to want to forget. While lasting 5.1 innings, he let up 11 hits and seven earned runs. He served up two home runs during his start today, and he saw his ERA rise to 5.93. His 3-5 record is also lackluster, and it will be worth monitoring what Colorado plans to do with the 26-year old for the upcoming season. However, his fantasy value as a starter remains low due to the poor 2014 showing, and his value will only go down if they decide to send him to the bullpen.

Ben Paulsen went 1-for-2 with a solo home run against the Dodgers on Saturday.

Paulsen has done a great job when given the chance in 2014, slashing .339/.371/.610 with four home runs and 10 RBI over his first 59 career at-bats. However, the Rockies have Justin Morneau locked up for at least one more season, so it is hard to believe Paulsen will have a lasting impact in 2015.
