Cole Hamels says he would love to remain with the Phillies.

If the Phillies can rebuild and stay in contention quickly, then Hamels can stay on as the elder statesman and lead the rotation like a true veteran ace. If they don't, he would again be a leading candidate for a trade to a contender, so it's almost a win-win for him if he stays in Philadelphia. Whether he does or he doesn't, he should still remain a top fantasy starter.

The Chicago Cubs have expressed interest in Philadelphia Phillies OF Ben Revere.

Revere would be an interesting addition if the Cubs weren't sold on Arismendy Alcantara playing center field and/or leading off next season. He probably wouldn't cost too much and he'd be a good table-setter for the mass of youngsters hitting behind him. He's receiving a fair amount of attention and will always be a nice mid-to-late round fantasy outfielder who can contribute in three categories.

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard and OF Marlon Byrd have been offered to the Baltimore Orioles in trade discussions.

The Orioles are looking for replacements after the departures of Nelson Cruz and Nick Markakis, and a Howard-Byrd tandem could accomplish that. The Phillies and their GM Amaro are notorious for asking way to much for their players, but it looks like Philadelphia is finally accepting that it's time to ship off their veterans as they are shaping up to be possibly the worst team in the MLB.

Freddy Galvis projects to be the Phillies' starting shortstop next season with the trade of Jimmy Rollins to the Dodgers.

Galvis has underwhelmed at the plate in parts of three seasons at the major league level hitting just .218 over 550 plate appearances he does boast an impressive .992 field percentage which bodes well for the Phillies staff knowing they have a legitimate defensive presence up the middle.

Manager Ryne Sandberg said Cody Asche will possibly try playing first base and left field during spring training.

Asche hit .252 with 43 runs, 10 home runs and 46 RBI over 121 games last season for the Phillies as their primary third basemen. Having Asche try multiple positions is likely due to some of the prospects the Phillies have coming up through their system particularly third basemen Maikel Franco who was the 17th best prospect according to Baseball America going into last season.

Jimmy Rollins would reportedly approve a trade to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Phillies have been looking to move the former NL MVP for some time now, and it appears that they have finally found a team that might be the perfect fit for him in the Dodgers. With the loss of Hanley Ramirez to free agency, the Dodgers should be in the market for a shortstop, and Rollins is reportedly interested in green lighting any deal that both parties consent to.

The Red Sox and Phillies are reportedly discussing a trade for Antonio Bastardo.

Bastardo has been a setup man in the Phillies' bullpen for the past six years and has seen mostly good results. The Red Sox could use another arm, so this seems like a logical fit. The Phillies are known to covet a Boston infield prospect named Sean Coyle and a deal between the two teams would likely revolve around him. Nothing is imminent, but this seems like a deal that could get done with relative ease.

Orioles met with the Phillies Tuesday to discuss a Marlon Byrd trade.

The Phillies are going to try to get as much they can from for Byrd. Meanwhile, the Orioles continue their search for an outfielder to replace Nick Markakis and Nelson Cruz.

Manager Ryne Sandberg says return for Cole Hamels "would need to have a 'wow factor'" for Phillies to trade him.

Thanks Ryno for telling us something we already know. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that the Phillies will need a couple of excellent players in return for Hamels.

Jimmy Rollins reportedly was willing to waive his no-trade clause for a deal to the Yankees, but will not do so for a deal to the Mets.

Playing for the Mets isn't as attractive to a player as playing in the classic pinstripes. Rollins continues to produce but his age is a big question mark for owners. He is no longer a top fantasy shortstop, but he is still serviceable if he can stay healthy.
