Lee is expected to begin a full throwing program in November and is on track to be ready for spring training.

Lee is getting on in years, sure, but if he is healthy, he is a top 25 SP. The Phillies need him back to build on their 2014 season, badly. Of course, that could be the description of their 2014 season, played badly for the most part.

Phillies have avoided arbitration with LHP Cesar Jimenez by agreeing to a 1-year contract for the 2015 season.

Jimenez performed well for the Phillies in 2014 posting a 1.69 ERA over 16 innings pitched. It is worth noting that he only struck out eight batters in those 16 innings and posted a WHIP of 1.31, so his ERA can be deceiving. Nevertheless, he has a guaranteed contract for 2015 and will pitch out of the Phillies' bullpen.

Phillies signed Grady Sizemore to a 1-year contract.

This 1-year deal is incentive laden, but it shouldn't really matter. At age 32, Sizemore is washed up and isn't going to contribute in any meaningful way. It was nice to see him attempt a comeback in 2014, but let's face it--he was a shell of his former self, batting just .233 with five home runs and 27 RBIs. This is not the type of signing that the Phillies should be making even though it will cost them very little. Sizemore will be worth a $1 flyer in deep NL-Only leagues next spring, but aside from that, stay away.

Phillies signed catcher John Hester to a minor league deal.

Hester has spent the past few season in the Diamondbacks organization but holds no fantasy relevance.

Phillies announce they have signed RHP Jerome Williams to one year contract worth 2.5 million.

Man, the Phillies will give any bad aging veteran a contract. Williams had a 4.77 earned run average in 115 innings pitched this season and hasn't finished with an ERA lower than 4.57 in the past three seasons.

Andres Blanco was outrighted off the Phillies 40-man roster.

Blanco, who hadn't played in the majors since 2011, was a nice plug-and-play option for the Phillies, but they'll take him off the roster, at least for the time being. He hit .277 with one home run and three RBI over 25 games but will fight for a utility job again next year.

Tony Gwynn Jr. refused his assignment to Triple-A Lehigh Valley and opted for free agency.

Gwynn will happily test the free agent market and see who is in need of a potential leadoff man. Of course, his .238/.309 /.310 career slash line doesn't exactly invoke images of an ideal table-setter in the big leagues.

Phillies have released pitcher Sean O'Sullivan.

This isn't much of a surprise as O'Sullivan only pitched in three games for the Phillies in 2014. In those three games, he posted a 0-1 and a horrendous 6.39 ERA. O'Sullivan has no fantasy relevance heading into 2015, and he needs to be far from your draft radar.

Jeremy Horst has elected minor league free agency.

Horst spent his entire 2014 season with the Phillies' Triple-A affiliate in Lehigh Valley. He made 45 appearances and posted a 3.98 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. He will likely be a non roster invitee to one of the 30 major league clubs next spring.

Reid Brignac has filed for free agency.

In 2014, Brignac appeared in 37 games and accrued a .222 batting average. For most of his career, he has split time between the minor leagues and the major leagues. Brignac has very low fantasy value, and should not be targeted in 2015 drafts.
