Panthers signed free-agent LB Horace Miller.

Miller worked out for the Panthers on Monday and subsequently signed a practice squad deal with the team. The former Texas-El Paso star spent the preseason with Seattle.

Panthers have re-signed RB Tauren Poole to their practice squad.

The Panthers' running backs have been obliterated due to injuries. Still, Poole has little chance of making the active roster and contributing in fantasy formats.

Update: Charles Johnson is dealing with a hip flexor injury, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

That could explain his zero tackle game on Sunday. He could also play through this issue, as the Panther defense is not exactly frightening their opponents so far this season. In IDP leagues, I would suggest you look elsewhere until he is close to 100%.

Deangelo Williams told fans at his Williams Warriors reception that he is out a few weeks with a high ankle sprain.

Now the Chris Ogbonnaya signing makes sense. The Panthers running back corps is severely depleted at this point, with Jonathan Stewart and Fozzy Whittaker both banged up and now Williams dealing with a more severe injury than originally imagined.

Panthers are signing RB Chris Ogbonnaya.

And that was why the Panthers cut Tauren Poole today. I am not going to get excited about Ogbonnaya until I see him on the field. Right now, he's number five on the depth chart.

Panthers have released RB Tauren Poole.

I suspect that the Panthers are looking to make room for someone to bolster their beat up running back corps.

Panthers' head coach Ron Rivera has benched Melvin White for Josh Norman at cornerback.

The Carolina defense has been shredded in the past couple of weeks so they are looking to mix things up.

DE Frank Alexander will return to practice Wednesday coming off a four-game suspension.

Alexander was suspended for the first four games for violating the league's substance abuse policy. He's a role player and depth guy, so it's not like he's been incredibly missed. Through 12 games for the Panthers last year, he recorded one sack and 15 tackles.

Ron Rivera says he is confident in Fozzy Whittaker's availability for Week 5.

Whittaker had been dealing with a thigh injury, but it wasn't considered a major problem. Whittaker should be available for Week 5 and will share the load with Darrin Reaves. There's also the chance that Jonathan Stewart returns too.

Ron Rivera says DeAngelo Williams will start the week as doubtful. His foot is sore, but there does not appear to be any structural damage.

They already announced that Williams' chances of playing in Week 5 were slim, so this is just a redundant post. Darrin Reaves should be picked up this week, though Jonathan Stewart and/or Fozzy Whittaker could be back as well.
