Update: The Miami Marlins have said that 3B Casey McGehee is not on trade market and is more likely to be offered a contract extension.

It would make sense that the Marlins are not actively shopping McGehee as it also makes sense that teams would be asking the Marlins if he is on the table for any potential trades. McGehee has flashed his talents in the past when he hit .293 with 39 home runs and 170 RBI over a two year span in Milwaukee back in 2009 and 2010.

The Miami Marlins have reportedly started receiving calls on the availability of 3B Casey McGehee.

McGehee has been one of the biggest surprises in baseball this season as he returned to the majors following a season over in Japan last year. McGehee on the season is tied for the NL lead in hits with 121 and is third in batting average at .322.

The Miami Marlins have signed Dominican outfielder Christian Capellan.

He's a 6-foot-4,16-year old who many believe to have good power and a decent arm which should translate well to him blossoming into a right fielder at some point. He signed for $500,000, though how many years is not yet known.

Steve Cishek pitched a perfect 10th inning for the save Monday against the Braves.

Cishek converted his 22nd save of the season and his second in as many chances since he blew his third save of the year back on June 9th. The 28-year old went through a rough patch to start off the month where he blew two saves, but appears to have gotten back on track having made three scoreless appearances in a row.

Garrett Jones drove in two runs with a bases-loaded base hit in the top of the 10th inning that eventually gave the Marlins the 3-1 victory over the Braves Monday.

G.I. Jones knocked in just his second and third RBIs of the month on Monday, combine that with his .250 average and you have a player who is best left as a DFS option in favorable RHP matchups going forward.

Tom Koehler worked 6.2 innings, allowing one run and five hits with seven strikeouts and two walks in the no-decision over the Braves Monday.

Koehler remains with just one win over his last eight starts despite a solid bounce back outing on Monday against the free-swinging Braves. The second-year starter is more of a streaming option against favorable matchups than a pitcher you run out there for every start. Luckily he does have a favorable matchup in his next start on Saturday in Houston against the Astros.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit a two-out, solo-home run in the top of the fifth inning for his only hit in five at-bats of Monday’s 3-1 win over the Braves.

The home run was Saltys 10th of the season and his third of the month. As nice as all that looks, his overall production is spread too far apart, in-between long stretches of way too many 0-for-ers to warrant ownership in most single catcher leagues that dont count on-base percentage.

Henderson Alvarez (leg) has been cleared to take the mound for his scheduled start Thursday.

Alvarez took a liner off the shin during his Saturday start and was forced to leave the game. It appears as if the All-Star pitcher is feeling better. He'll carry his stellar 2.64ERA and 1.26 WHIP into Thursday's match-up against the Braves and Aaron Harang.
