Colts RB Trent Richardson (hamstring) has returned to the practice field on Wednesday.

The best thing that ever happened to Richardson was Vick Ballard's injury because that just cut one major obstacle out of his way to being the primary running back for the Colts. The hamstring injury was deemed minor, so now it's up to him to get back to work and prove his worth is higher than that of Ahmad Bradshaw. Whether that's actually a possibility is yet to be seen as good ol' T-Rich has been one of the more disappointing players in the NFL since his rookie season.

Colts TE Dwayne Allen did not participate in practice on Wednesday.

The Colts are excited to have their other young tight end back in the fold. The reports are that he "is like getting a brand new player." It was a shame to lose him last season after he was primed for a breakout season and Fleener did not live up to his billing. Allen sat out today and the reports were that it was precautionary but he should once again be a big part of the Colts' plans. He is a solid TE2 with upside.

Ahmad Bradshaw is not showing any limitations with his neck injury, which caused him to miss the final 13 games of last season.

With Vick Ballard out for the season, Bradshaw's stock has risen significantly. He is the clear backup behind Trent Richardson and if Richardson performs like he did last season, Bradshaw could see an increased workload. He is a handcuff that I will definitely want to own this fall.

Colts sign LB Jonathan Sharpe and RB Phillip Tanner.

The Colts will kick the tires on both to see if there's anything worth using on the roster. Given the loss of Vick Ballard, Tanner might have a decent chance of making the squad if he can prove to be a competent back-up running back

Colts have waived wide receiver Aaron Burks.

Burks was a long shot to make the roster anyway, so better to set him free now and try to find someone else who may be a better fit with the team.

Colts have signed T Matt Hall.

AT 6'9", he is a tall one. Word is that he will need to work on his footwork and his lack of agility will limit him to right tackle.

Colts offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton expecting big things from his "RoboCop" like TE Dwayne Allen as the team will use many more two-tight end sets this season.

This is now the second time Hamilton has said that he expects big things from Allen this season, though how long he has been calling him RoboCop is not yet known. The two tight end sets will certainly help Allen's value, but let's also remember that Coby Fleener, Reggie Wayne, T.Y. Hilton and Hakeem Nicks are also on this team. Yes, Allen will get more work than he has in the past, but is that going to vault him up the TE rankings? Maybe, but not by much.

Colts have released RB Chris Rainey.

Even with the loss of Vick Ballard, the Colts were done looking at Rainey as a back-up option. He'll try to pick up elsewhere for the season, but the perennial back-up with the soft ankles is going to have a tough time finding work.

Colts place LB Aaron Morgan on Injured Reserve.

Morgan was signed to a reserve-future deal after last season. He has four career tackles in 18 career games playing mostly on special teams.
