Chiefs put S Eric Berry on NFI non-football Illness, which means he is out for the year,

Huge loss for a Kansas City Chiefs defense that had been surging into their matchup with Oakland. Berry has been every bit as good as advertised since being taken 5th overall in the 2010 NFL Draft, as he has quarterbacked the Chiefs defense since day one. This will be a huge blow for the Chiefs who have been relying on their defense to win games for them, now it appears that backup safety Kurt Coleman will be taking over the starting duties in Berry's absence for the remainder of the season.

Berry had an MRI done and they found a mass in his chest. He will undergo a barrage of tests to determine its nature and risk to his health as it is already being speculated asd lymphoma. We wish him nothing but the best here and hope for a strong recovery.

Kansas City Chiefs sign Nick Williams off the Steelers practice squad.

With Kevin Vickerson dealing with a calf issue and not much depth to be had, the Chiefs make a move here to bolster the defensive line. How much time on the field he actually sees is not yet known, but his addition does nothing to the fantasy realm.

Chiefs placed WR A.J. Jenkins (shoulder) on injured reserve.

Jenkins has missed three straight weeks due to a shoulder injury now, and the streak will continue as he has been shut down for the year. This is tough for the thin receiving corps of the Chiefs, though he hadn't made much of an impact anyway catching nine balls for 93 yards on fifteen targets.

Update: Chiefs are signing former Carolina Panthers and Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jason Avant.

Perhaps the Chiefs are concerned that Donnie Avery won't be healthy enough to play next week. Perhaps they just have no faith in Junior Hemingway or Frankie Hammond. Whatever the case may be, with the Thursday game out of the way,the team will have plenty of time to prepare fro their Week 13 match-up.

Cairo Santos was 2-for-2 on field goal attempts and converted two extra points during the Chiefs' 24-20 loss to the Raiders on Thursday.

Santos is having himself a solid season on special teams for the Chiefs as he has now converted 15 of his 17 field goal attempts while connecting on all 30 of his extra points. Outside of deep leagues Santos is likely unowned, but if keeps converting at a high rate prospective fantasy owners may want to invest in this first-year pro.

Josh Mauga recorded 10 tackles, including one quarterback hit and one tackle for a loss, during the Chiefs' 24-20 loss to the Raiders on Thursday.

Mauga is now sitting on 76 tackles (64 solo) on the season as he remains one of the more consistent players to rack up tackles on a weekly basis. However, he has yet to record a sack this season, so his fantasy value relies solely on his ability to get to the ball carrier, so as long as he continues to rack up tackles he is a must-start in IDP formats.

Travis Kelce caught four passes on five targets for 67 yards during the Chiefs' 24-20 loss to the Raiders on Thursday.

Despite not getting into the end zone for the third straight game, Kelce was able to haul in all but one of his five target for 67 yards, which is a respectable outcome for his fantasy owners. Although his production of late hasn't been what we saw from him earlier in the season, he remains a must-start option at the tight end position, considering he is the best receiver on the Chiefs roster and a big red zone threat.

Dwayne Bowe caught three passes on five targets for 42 yards during the Chiefs' 24-20 loss to the Raiders on Thursday.

Bowe was practically a non-factor on Thursday night as he remains without a touchdown catch this season. After logging two games of double-digit targets earlier in the month, Bowe have reverted right back to his old self, which is nothing special at this point in his career. Outside of being viewed as a reserve, Bowe shouldn't be owned outside of the deepest of fantasy formats.

Jamaal Charles carried the ball 19 times for 80 yards during the Chiefs' 24-20 loss to the Raider on Thursday. He also caught four passes for 42 yards and a touchdown.

Charles has now scored at least one touchdown in six straight games as he continues to be a top-10 fantasy option at the running back position. Whether on the ground or in the passing game, Charles continues to get the job done for his fantasy owners and barring a major injury his stock should remain at an elite level, no matter who he is matched up against on a given week.

Alex Smith completed 20-of-36 passes for 234 yards with two touchdowns during the Chiefs' 24-20 loss to the Raiders on Thursday.

After failing to throw for a touchdown in each of his last two games, Smith was able to get back on the board in Week 12 as he threw for two touchdowns while not throwing an interception for the sixth straight game. The Chiefs have had success without Smith doing much outside of being a game manager, so as far as fantasy value is concerned there is no reason to own him at this time now that the bye weeks are over.
