Jamaal Charles (back) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday.

Charles has been hampered by nagging injuries throughout the season and this back issue is yet another one. The good news is that he practiced in full on Thursday, so we shouldn't into this issue. He's playing against the Jets on Sunday.

Alex Smith (shoulder) practiced in full for the second straight day Thursday.

Smith has a sore shoulder, but it's nothing major. He's practice in full on back-to-back days and he's in absolutely no danger of missing Sunday's game against the Jets.

Travis Kelce (ribs) practiced in full on Thursday.

This bodes well for Kecle's chances of playing this weekend when the Jets come to town.

Jamaal Charles (back) fully participated in practice Wednesday.

Charles will be good to go for week nine and should be started in every line up.

Chiefs LB Joe Mays (wrist) was on the field, as expected, during portion of practice open to media Wednesday. He's not expected to play on Sunday.

Mays tore a tendon in his wright and has been recovering the whole season to this point. He is eligible to return in Week 10. James-Michael Johnson and Josh Mauga have picked up the slack with Derrick Johnson out for the season and while Mays has recovered.

Donnie Avery (hernia) will not play on Sunday.

The Chiefs have been without his services for the past few weeks and no one has really noticed or cared. Avery is a non-factor in fantasy and you should not care about his backups either.

Andy Reid said QB Alex Smith (shoulder) will practice Wednesday.

The reports initially were that he did sprain his shoulder in Sunday's game but he played through it and that he would not miss this week either. Those reports seem to be true and we don't have any reason to doubt them either.

Chiefs and LB Justin Houston remain far apart on a new contract.

Houston leads the NFL with 10 sacks already through seven games for the Chiefs and is just one sack off of his career high 11 sack season he posted last year.

Martin suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday's game against the Rams.

Martin isn't an integral part of the Chiefs' defense. They should be fine with or without him against the Jets this Sunday.

QB Alex Smith has a shoulder strain, per Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid.

First of all, as of right now he is expected to be fine for Week 9. This is definitely a situation to keep your eye on though. Smith will likely sit out or earn a "limited" tag on Wednesday before trying to ramp up on Thursday. The injured was sustained during the first half of Sunday's game and he played through which is a good sign. For now, you should just take Andy Reid at his word that Smith will be fine, but back-up plans should be readied. Smith's status will be updated no later than Wednesday.
