Mark Barron is still not 100 percent healthy following arthroscopic surgery to repair cartilage in his right knee in January.

Buccaneers safety Mark Barron missed offseason workouts for the team following surgery in January. He is back on the field, though he will be closely monitored for any further aggravation of the repaired knee. The former first round draft pick had 88 total tackles, two sacks, and two interceptions for the Buccaneers in 2013.

Dashon Goldson (foot) said he feels good physically and lost 10 pounds in the offseason.

Uh oh. Best shape of his life? Goldson would like to build off last year's 72 tackle, one interception performance and he'll need to dig down deep to do so after undergoing offseason ankle surgery. He could be an interesting IDP choice if he opens the season strong and your league counts tackles.

Goldson had a bit of a disappointing season last year but the fact that he is doing well physically bodes well for him., He could have a great bounce-back season this year for the Buccaneers if he can stay healthy.

Bucs rookie WR Mike Evans said working out with Brandon Marshall before camp helped him greatly.

Marshall likely offered the newcomer plenty of tips that he will be very useful for Evans in his first year in the NFL. Adjusting to the NFL as a rookie is always tough, but hopefully Marshall's help will make the adjustment easier for Evans.

Nothing like learning from one of the best, right? Evans is a tremendous talent and will, at some point, make an immense impact on the NFL. However, on a team like Tampa Bay in which there is a suspect quarterback in Mike Glennon, an already established No. 1 in Vincent Jackson and a potential run-first mentality, Evans could have some difficulty making his mark this season. Rookie wideouts often struggle and while there's potential for an amazing career, it may just take a year or two of learning the ropes before it happens.

Pro Bowl guard Carl Nicks' time with the Bucs is over. He and the team have agreed on an amicable settlement.

Nicks didn't say that he was retiring, but that he was "stepping away from football." His recovery from toe surgery was slow and the Bucs just didn't see him making an impact they couldn't get from one of the other offensive linemen in camp. We may hear from him again in the future, but probably not in 2014.

Buccaneers claimed free-agent LB Brandon Magee off waivers.

Magee was cut by the Browns earlier this week and will now have the chance to compete for a roster spot in Tampa Bay. He will have to really shine in training camp to lock down a spot.

Buccaneers placed Ronald Talley on non-football illness list.

Buccaneers coach Lovie Smith said Carl Nicks has been excused from workouts, for now, for personal reasons.

No details as to what those personal reasons are or how long he'll be away from the team. It shouldn't have much of an impact with his standing on the team.

Bucs coach Lovie Smith doesn't plan to use Doug Martin to the extent that old coach Greg Schiano did the last two years.

The Bucs plan is to utilize all of their running backs in an effort to keep Martin healthy coming off of a serious shoulder injury. However, Martin is expected to get the lion share of the carries while being used out of the backfield on passing plays. With a very good wide receiving core on paper, the running game for the Bucs could be one of the better backfields to invest in, that is if everyone lives up to their full potential.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers SS Mark Barron (undisclosed) is healthy and ready for training camp to open.

Barron recorded 88 tackles last season to go along with four interceptions. He is a mainstay in the Buccaneers secondary and should be in for another solid season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers FS Dashon Goldson (foot) is expected to participate in training camp, according to head coach Lovie Smith.

Goldson recorded 72 tackles last year for Tampa Bay and will be locked into the starting free safety spot. He may miss some time early in training camp, but once he gets back on the field, he should be good to go.
