Derrick Walton Jr. Headshot

Walton was assigned to the G-League on Monday, Andre C. Fernandez of the Miami Herald reports.

Walton has yet to the see the floor over the first two games of the season, so he'll head to the the G-League to get more reps and help further his development. Walton is on a two-way contract and is expected to spend the majority of the season with the Sioux Falls Syforce, keeping him off the fantasy radar.

Zack Mitchell Headshot

Mitchell was sent down to the minors Sunday.

in his third stint in the NHL, Mitchell skated in two games for Minnesota but wasn't able to land his name on the score sheet. Last season the 24-year-old posted 22 points in 62 games for AHL Iowa, and will look to build off that point production in the 2017-18 season.
4:18 pm (EST)
DeVante Parker Headshot

Parker (ankle) didn't take part in the Dolphins' practice Monday, Adam H. Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.

The Dolphins likely took it easy in practice a day after their comeback win over the Jets, so the real test for Parker will come Tuesday, when he's expected to see how his ankle holds up during the team's session. If Parker is able to complete workouts Tuesday and Wednesday without significant limitations, he could be cleared to play Thursday against the Ravens following a two-game absence. Should Parker suit up, he'll have to adjust to a new quarterback in Matt Moore, as Jay Cutler, who started the team's first six games of the season, isn't expected to be available after fracturing two of his ribs Sunday.
4:17 pm (EST)
Tristan Thompson Headshot

Thompson sat out Monday's practice with a sore knee, but is expected to play in Tuesday's game against the Bulls, Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com reports.

Thompson doesn't appear to be in danger of missing any time, though it will still be worth it to monitor his status up through pregame warmups Tuesday, especially considering the Cavaliers are heading into a back-to-back set. After opening the 2017-18 campaign coming off the bench, Thompson has seen a much smaller role than last season and is averaging just 5.7 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.0 assist across 23.3 minutes.
4:16 pm (EST)
Semyon Varlamov Headshot

Varlamov will guard the cage versus the Stars on Tuesday, Mike Chambers of The Denver Post reports.

Varlamov has dropped two straight outings after starting the year on a three-game winning streak. The netminder could be in line for a heavy workload Tuesday, considering Dallas is averaging 34.5 shots per game -- sixth highest in the league.
4:14 pm (EST)
Leon Draisaitl Headshot

Draisaitl (concussion) could be eligible to return versus the Penguins on Tuesday.

Draisaitl has not yet been cleared to play or activated off injured reserve, both steps which would need to take place to get him back in the lineup. If given the green light, the youngster will almost certainly return to the top line alongside Connor McDavid. If he is going to suit up, the Oilers should provide an update following the game-day skate Tuesday.
4:09 pm (EST)
Mike Green Headshot

Green is currently tied with Alex Pietrangelo of the Blues and Philadelphia's Shayne Gostisbehere for the league lead in points by a defenseman at 11.

The right-shooting rearguard appears highly motivated to produce in the early going, and it's safe to say that a driving force behind the surge is the fact that he's in a contract year. Green's occupying a whopping $6 million against the salary cap, and that's a huge chunk of change for a Detroit team that recently had to swing a couple of trades just to retain restricted free agent Andreas Athanasiou. It wouldn't be surprising to see Green traded at the next deadline, if not sooner.
4:09 pm (EST)
Luke Kunin Headshot

Kunin was reassigned to AHL Iowa on Sunday.

Despite Kunin notching an impressive two assists on Saturday, Minnesota will return the 19-year-old to the minors. Kunin has a wicked shot and posted 38 points in 35 games for the University of Wisconsin last season, and if injuries re-arise in the future for Minnesota don't be surprised if he gets recalled again.
4:09 pm (EST)
Jay Ajayi Headshot

Ajayi was a limited participant in the Dolphins' practice Monday due to knee and elbow issues, Adam H. Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.

Ajayi has managed a sore left knee all season, but the elbow is a new concern for the running back, who presumably picked up the latter injury in Sunday's win over the Jets. It's worth noting that the Dolphins held out or limited a number of players Monday due to the quick turnaround for their Week 8 matchup with the Ravens on Thursday, so the fact that Ajayi was merely on the field a day after a game suggests he's not too banged up. For the third consecutive contest, Ajayi had more than 20-plus touches Sunday, finishing with 51 yards and 23 carries and 26 yards on three catches. In spite of that volume, Ajayi was unable to find the end zone and is still looking for his first touchdown of 2017.
4:08 pm (EST)
Rodney Hood Headshot

Hood (calf) was limited in Monday's practice and is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Clippers, David Locke of the Jazz Radio Network reports.

It's the first news of Hood returning to the court after he was forced out of Friday's game against the Timberwolves, but his status remains up in the air. The Jazz should provide another update on Hood's status after shootaround Tuesday morning, but it's likely he'll be a game-time decision. In the event that he is unable to play once again, both Thabo Sefolosha and Alec Burks should see extended minutes off the bench.
