Matt Cain Headshot

An MRI on Cain's injured right hamstring came back clean Tuesday and he expects to make his next start against the Padres on Saturday, Amy Gutierrez of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Cain exited his Monday start early after experiencing hamstring tightness. It appears that the injury wasn't anything too serious as the veteran hurler expects to be ready for his next start. Cain has found success early in the season, posting a 2.42 ERA over his first 22.1 innings.

Matt Greene Headshot

Greene underwent back surgery at some point during the second half of the season, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.

Greene has dealt with an amalgam of injuries over the years and has been limited 29 regular season games over the past two seasons as a result. The 33-year-old has never been much of an offensive threat, as his career-high 15 points in 2011-12 will attest, and his inability to stay healthy may doom him to an early retirement, especially considering he has just one year remaining on his contract with the Kings.

Dewayne Dedmon Headshot

Dedmon (illness) will come off the bench for Tuesday's Game 5 against the Grizzlies, Jeff McDonald of San Antonio Express-News reports.

Dedmon has been a fixture in the Spurs' starting lineup throughout the later stages of the season, but a recent illness kept him out of Game 4 of the Spurs' first round series on Saturday. David Lee drew the start in his place, posting eight points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal across 33 minutes, and will remain with the top unit during Game 5 despite Dedmon being available. That said, with both players active, they'll likely be in a timeshare, which could mean a decrease in playing time all around, thus hurting their overall fantasy value.

Joe Gunkel Headshot

Gunkel was designated for assignment Tuesday, Eric Stephen of SB Nation reports.

The Dodgers needed to make room on the 40-man roster for their recently-promoted top prospect Cody Bellinger, thus leading Gunkel to get hit with the DFA. The 25-year-old has a 4.00 ERA over nine innings with Triple-A Oklahoma City.
7:20 pm (EST)
Andrew Toles Headshot

Toles is out of the lineup Tuesday against the Giants, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Toles will head to the bench with lefty Ty Blach due up for San Francisco, as is standard whenever the Dodgers face a southpaw. With top prospect Cody Bellinger promoted Tuesday, Toles' role is somewhat uncertain, although he will likely continue to start in left against right-handers for the time being with Bellinger shifting to center against righties. Depending on how Bellinger fares, Bellinger could stick in left upon Joc Pederson's eventual return from a groin injury.
7:19 pm (EST)
Erasmo Ramírez Headshot

Ramirez was scratched from Tuesday's start due to uncertain weather conditions in Baltimore, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Apparently there is no injury in play; rather manager Kevin Cash seems to be anticipating a weather delay and didn't want to risk an abbreviated outing from Ramirez. Austin Pruitt is now starting while Ramirez will be available out of the bullpen if needed.
7:14 pm (EST)
Brett Eibner Headshot

Eibner was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, Andy McCullough of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Eibner has shuttled between Los Angeles and Oklahoma City over the past couple of weeks and was sent down again Tuesday to make room for Cody Bellinger's anticipated debut. The 28-year-old will continue to serve as organizational outfield depth.
7:11 pm (EST)
Wei-Yin Chen Headshot

Chen is scheduled to start Wednesday against the Phillies, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

As expected, Chen will simply move back a day following Tuesday's rainout. He will be opposed by Vince Velasquez.
