Manaea suffered a left pronator strain earlier this month but only missed a few starts. The left-hander allowed two hits, two runs and a pair of walks in 3 2/3 innings Friday in a rehab outing for High-A Stockton. He's had a tough time adjusting to the big leagues with just two wins and a 6.02 ERA through his first nine starts.
In his fist start since returning from the 15-day disabled list with a biceps injury Velasquez picked up right where he left off as he tossed five scoreless innings for his sixth win. The Phillies' youngster is now sitting 6-2 with a 3.38 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and a 80:22 K:BB rate through 66.2 innings, and considering his solid walk rate Velasquez makes for a solid start in all fantasy formats, especially if his strikeouts keep flowing like they have in his first season with the Phillies. He will look to keep up the pace when he takes on the Royals on Sunday.
