Lewis Brinson (R) Headshot

Brinson (finger) is starting in left field and batting seventh Saturday against the Braves.

This is welcomed news, as the top prospect is won't be forced to miss any time after getting hit by a pitch on his pinkie finger Friday night. Brinson, who is just 3-for-26 (.115) with the Brewers this season, will look to turn things around as he faces knuckleballer R.A. Dickey.

Patrick Kivlehan (R) Headshot

Kivlehan is slashing .243/.324/.419 with four home runs in 74 at-bats this season.

The 27-year-old is seeing few opportunities as the Reds' fourth outfielder, with 25 of his at-bats coming as a pinch hitter. With right fielder Scott Schebler heating up in June, it's unlikely Kivelehan's role will change in the near future.

Franklin Barreto (R) Headshot

Barreto indicated Saturday that manager Bob Melvin pegged him to make his first major league start Sunday against the White Sox, Jane Lee of reports.

Barreto patiently awaited his first call to the majors, batting .281/.326/.428 with eight home runs and four steals over 68 games with Triple-A Nashville this season. He finally earned the promotion on the heels of Chad Pinder's (hamstring) placement on the 10-day DL on Saturday. His first start will arrive Sunday, but it's possible the youngster will receive an opportunity even sooner should he serve as a pinch-hitter during Saturday's contest.

Eric Sogard (L) Headshot

Sogard (elbow) is not in the lineup Saturday against the Braves.

Sogard exited Friday's game with some elbow tightness after being hit by a pitch earlier in the game, and it's apparently still bothering him enough to keep him out of Saturday's matinee contest. He should be considered day-to-day for now; Hernan Perez is starting in his place at the keystone.
12:55 pm (EST)
Manny Piña (R) Headshot

Pina is not in the lineup Saturday against the Braves.

After catching all nine innings in Friday's night game against the Braves, Pina will get the day off for Saturday's matinee. Jett bandy will take over behind the dish in Pina's absence.
12:50 pm (EST)
Fernando Abad (L) Headshot

Abad has a 1.72 ERA and 1.09 WHIP over 15.2 innings since the start of May.

The veteran left-hander has yet to record a hold this season but is pitching well in low-leverage situations for the Red Sox. Abad has recorded only 13 strikeouts across 21 innings this season, but has pitched well against lefties, as they hold a .214/.258/.357 slash line against him.
12:50 pm (EST)
Aarón Sánchez (R) Headshot

Sanchez (finger) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Dunedin on Tuesday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet reports.

Sanchez's finger ailment has plagued him throughout the season, taking on forms from a blister to a cracked nail. He and the club decided to allow ample time for recovery by taking an extended stay on the disabled list, and he appears to finally have it under control. There's always a risk of the issue resurfacing at a later date, but Sanchez will attempt to take another step in his recovery Monday by pitching in his first game since May. He's expected to require at least two rehab outings, potentially allowing him to return prior to the All-Star break.
12:50 pm (EST)
Cole Hamels (L) Headshot

Hamels (oblique) was confirmed as the starter for Monday's game against the Indians, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

Hamels, who has been on the DL since that start of May, was able to get through his Friday bullpen session with no issues, clearing the way for him to return to the big-league rotation. The southpaw compiled a 3.03 ERA and 15:12 K:BB in five starts (32.2 innings) before landing on the disabled list.
12:47 pm (EST)
Yogi Ferrell Headshot

The Mavs have opted to pick up Ferrell's option for $1.3 million, Tim MacMahon of ESPN reports.

Ferrell made this decision easy for the Mavericks, as he excelled after initially signing a 10-day contract with the team mid-season. He started 29-of-36 games with the club, and tallied 11.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, 4.3 dimes, 1.1 steals, and 1.7 triples across 29.1 minutes per game in the process. The Indiana product will presumably see his role reduced in the upcoming season, as the Mavericks drafted point guard Dennis Smith Jr. with the ninth pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. Also, J.J. Barea and Seth Curry are still both under contract with the team, so it remains to be seen how the rotation will play out. Barea would seem the likely candidate to be on the outside looking in if the team opts to air on the side of youth.
12:40 pm (EST)
Blaine Boyer (R) Headshot

Boyer has allowed five runs and struck out 10 over 13.2 innings this season.

The veteran right-hander was promoted from Triple-A Pawtucket in late May and has recorded a loss and a hold in 11 appearances. Boyer has given up three or more hits in five of his outings and carries a 1.54 WHIP in mostly low-leverage situations, which doesn't inspire confidence moving forward.
