Brett Lawrie went 3-for-4 with a pair of solo homers and three total RBI in Saturday’s 10-8 loss to the Blue Jays.

Lawrie is suddenly swinging a very hot bat, as he has gone 9-for-17 with three roundtrippers over the last four days. The 26-year-old hacker is not, and will likely never be, known for offensive consistency, but his power is legit. Through 74 games, Lawrie has belted 10 homers and 19 doubles. He holds value in deeper mixed leagues.

Miguel Gonzalez labored through 5.1 innings in Saturday’s 10-8 loss to the Blue Jays, surrendering eight runs on 10 hits and three walks with two strikeouts.

Gonzalez just simply did not have it on the mound Saturday afternoon, as the Blue Jays’ stout lineup got to him early and often before he finally exited the game in the sixth frame. Over his last four starts, Gonzalez has gone from good to bad and around again, making him a very frustrating fantasy play in season-long leagues and especially daily contests alike. It is best to simply avoid the headache outside of deeper A.L. Only formats. The 32-year-old righty will take the mound in Houston on Friday night.

Jake McGee (left knee) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Sunday.

If all goes well he'll trek out on a rehab assignment and could rejoin the Rockies bullpen within a week. McGee had been pretty brutal before the injury, posting a 4.98 ERA in 21.2 innings. To make matters worse, he had only averaged 6.23 K/9, way down from his 11.57 mark just a season ago. He'll likely be placed back into the closer role for the Rockies, despite Carlos Estevez holding down the fort nicely in his stead.
