Antonio Smith Headshot

Texans will re-sign Antonio Smith on Wednesday once the team places J.J. Watt on injured reserve.

Smith recorded 2.5 sacks in 2015 and appeared in all 16 games. He will try and make up some of J.J. Watt's production, but finding anyone to come close would be impossible. He will not figure to have much of an impact in Watt's absence.

J.J. Watt Headshot

According to league sources, J.J. Watt will see a specialist to see if his back injury can heal on it's own or if he will need another surgery.

It was reported earlier that Watt would head to the IR for a long period of time, however, it appears he will seek one final opinion before electing to have surgery. If he is out, it hurts the Texans DEF significantly.

Tyson Ross Headshot

Padres are exploring all options in regards to Tyson Ross (shoulder), including surgery.

Ross has received many differing opinions on the path he should take, but surgery seems to be more likely. After making just one start in 2016, in which he was lit up for seven earned runs in 5.1 innings, the hurler will most likely go under the knife.

Chris Davis Headshot

Chris Davis was ejected from Tuesday's game after arguing balls and strikes with the home plate umpire.

Davis was replaced at first base by Ryan O'Flaherty, and went 0 for 3 before his early exit. He still got three at-bats before being shown the gate, so if you started him in daily, you did not miss out on much. On the year, Davis is hitting .218 with 38 home runs, and 85 RBI, which is right on point with what owners expected out of the hard hitting lefty.

J.J. Watt Headshot

According to league sources, J.J. Watt (back is expected to be placed on injured reserve in the upcoming days.

It was clear Watt was much less than 100% in Thursdays' loss to the Patriots. He pushed himself hard to be back by Week 1, but clearly he did too much, and now will be lost for a while, if not for the year. Watt is a former defensive player of the year, so his absence will clearly hurt the Texans as a team DEF, and those who have him in IDP leagues will need to find a replacement.

David Ortiz Headshot

David Ortiz told reporters that he won't play for the Dominican Republic's World Baseball Classic team next year.

It appears that Big Papi is truly done with baseball after this season. The veteran slugger is ending his career on a high note, hitting .319/.404/.629 on the year with 37 home runs and 124 RBI. The minute he hangs up the cleats, the countdown to the Hall of Fame begins.

Gordon Beckham Headshot

Giants officially acquired Gordon Beckham from the Braves in exchange for Rich Rodriguez.

The Giants wanted to add some veteran depth to their beat up infield, and Beckham will provide just that. Beckham had been relegated to a bench role once the Braves promoted prized prospect Dansby Swanson.

Corey Kluber Headshot

Indians remain optimistic that Corey Kluber will be back in the team's starting rotation after an MRI revealed no major damage to his groin.

Kluber left Monday's game with what was deemed a minor groin issue, and the MRI has confirmed that he did not suffer a serious injury. He likely will not pitch again during the regular season, as there is no reason to rush him back after the Indians clinched the AL Central Division title. He should be fine to go once the postseason kicks off, though.

J.J. Watt Headshot

According to league sources, J.J. Watt re-injured his back and is expected to miss an extended period of time.

Horrible news for the Texans and their defense. It was looking as though Watt was getting back to full strength, and his absence will mean that others on the defense, including Jadeveon Clowney and Whitney Mercilus, will have to step up their production. Look for Devon Still to step in at right DE in place of Watt.

Julio Urias Headshot

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Julio Urias will be used as a starter in the postseason due to his limited innings pitched in September.

The Dodgers kept his innings to a minimum this season, moving him to the bullpen to keep him fresh. He has been effective as a starter, and will likely get a start before the end of the season.
