Gio Gonzalez Headshot

A reliable National League source confirmed that the Washington Nationals are close to a deal with the New York Yankees that would send lefthander Gio Gonzalez to the Bronx.

The Yankees seem to be confident that Gonzalez can bounce back after a poor 2016 season. He had a rough 4.57 ERA in 177 2/3 innings. From years 2010-2015 he had a 3.31 ERA. He is 31 so he is in the middle of his career but may have a new start in the Bronx.

Jose Bautista Headshot

Dodgers are showing interest in Jose Bautista.

Bautista is coming off a down year where he batted .234 and had 22 home runs with 69 RBIs. Teams will show interest and he shouldn't have many issues signing a multi-year deal. The real question is will the Blue Jays be able to keep Bautista after they signed Kendrys Morales to a three-year, $33 million earlier this month and need to think about signing Edwin Encarnacion.

Mitch Moreland Headshot

Red Sox interested in former Rangers first baseman Mitch Moreland.

The Sox are looking to replace David Ortiz from a season ago and it seems Moreland may just be the guy. The team needs a lefty-hitting first baseman who can also be the DH with some power. That's exactly what Moreland offers to a ball club. In 147 games in 2016, he batted .233 with 22 home runs and 60 RBI. The Red Sox aren't the only team interested, though, the Indians are also interested.

Reggie Jackson Headshot

Reggie Jackson will be on a minutes restriction Tuesday night.

In his season debut on Sunday Jackson played 23 minutes, scoring 18 points to go with four assists. Expect around the same amount of minutes on Tuesday and Jackson can be put into fantasy lineups.

Mike Napoli Headshot

The Indians met with Mike Napoli's representatives on Monday. There trying to work out a one-year deal.

The Indians would love to bring him back on a reasonable one-year deal but Napoli's representatives are trying to do better elsewhere. Indians beat writer Jordan Bastian has said that Napoli may have already signed with the Indians if they were willing to go two years. We will see how it shakes out but don't be surprised if another team jumps in the mix for his services.

Courtney Lee Headshot

Courtney Lee is expected to play Tuesday.

The Knicks have been without Lee for the last two games after spraining his ankle last Wednesday. Justin Holiday will lose value and head to the bench with Lee's return to the lineup. Lee is averaging 29.7 minutes per game this season, but may see those minutes reduced slightly if he doesn't pick up his level of play as he is only averaging 10 points per game.

Bryce Petty Headshot

Bryce Petty named starting QB for the remainder of the season.

Apparently, this was the plan all along for Jets coach Todd Bowles. He said that he always planned to start Bryce Petty over the final month of the season. "We could have won 45-0, (Bryce) was going to start the last four games," Bowles said after Monday night's blowout loss. "That's the slot we had penciled for him, that's a good time to take a look at him." Who knows what is going on with the Jets and frankly, I don't care. They are going to see what they've got in Petty over these last four games and probably look to take a Quarterback with their high pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Jason Pierre-Paul Headshot

Jason Pierre-Paul is in Philadelphia Tuesday to see noted surgeon William Meyers regarding his groin injury,

Pierre-Paul was forced out of the Giants Week 13 loss to the Steelers with a groin injury. He left in the second quarter and never returned. The veteran defensive end said after the game the injury "doesn’t concern me at all," well it has to be a bit concerning now that he's seeking a specialist's opinion. We will have to wait and see what happens with this consultation before knowing his status going forward.

Anthony DeSclafani Headshot

Reds are listening to offers for RHP Anthong DeSciafini.

The 26-year-old right hander had a solid 9-5 record in 2016 with a 3.28 ERA and a K/BB ratio of 105/30 over 123 1/3 innings. He also had his first career complete game shut out in 2016 for the Reds. He will draw a nice price for Cincinnati with his age and contract situation. The Reds are in a complete rebuild and he would go along way to building their farm system back up.
