Seth Smith Headshot

Smith (hamstring) is out of the lineup Sunday against the Red Sox.

Smith is still nursing a sore hamstring, but even if healthy, he likely would have sat out anyway Sunday with left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez twirling for the Red Sox. With Smith out in the series finale, Mark Trumbo will cover right field, opening up a spot in the lineup at designated hitter for Trey Mancini.

Jedd Gyorko Headshot

Gyorko is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.

Despite the fact that he's swinging a hot stick (six hits in his last three games), Gyorko will get the day off Sunday against Jimmy Nelson and the Brewers. In his absence, Greg Garcia will draw the start at third base.
11:46 am (EST)
Eric Fehr Headshot

Fehr (hand) isn't expected to rejoin the lineup for Game 6 against the Capitals, Tom Gulitti of NHl.com reports.

The veteran winger has now been sidelined for nearly a month due to the issue, so his return can't be counted on until something suggests he's making progress to receive consideration. Toronto enters the contest down 3-2 in the series, so it would take a victory for Fehr to have a chance at retaking the ice in 2016-17. Regardless, he can't be counted on for consistent ice time or production even when healthy, limiting his fantasy upside in playoff pools even if the team was to advance.
11:44 am (EST)
Yadier Molina Headshot

Molina is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.

Following Saturday's impressive performance in which he recorded three hits and raised his season average to .306, Molina will received a day of rest Sunday. Eric Fryer will take over behind the plate.
11:43 am (EST)
Nikita Soshnikov Headshot

Soshnikov (undisclosed) wasn't among the line rushes at morning skate Sunday and will likely miss Game 6 against the Capitals, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.

Nothing appears to have changed for the young winger. He's sat out the past 16 contests for the Maple Leafs due to the undisclosed issue and doesn't appear to have a firm timeline for a return at this point. Toronto is expected to roll with the same lines and pairings in the contest it used in Game 5, making Soshnikov's next potential chance at returning in Game 7 should the Leafs win. If not, his season -- along with the Leafs' -- will have come to an end.
11:39 am (EST)
Sandy León Headshot

Leon is out of the lineup Sunday against the Orioles, Peter Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

After recording five hits in 10 at-bats in the Red Sox's first two games of the season, Leon has experienced a major slump at the dish, going 4-for-36 (.111 average). Leon's ongoing struggles may have paved the way for Christian Vazquez to turn the catching situation into a timeshare, as Vazquez will now pick up his third start in the last six games.
11:39 am (EST)
Jett Bandy Headshot

Bandy is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.

With both catchers swinging a hot bat, the Brewers will continue to utilize a catching timeshare between Bandy and Manny Pina. Pina will draw the start Sunday, but Bandy should be back in action within the next couple of days.
11:39 am (EST)
Matt Wisler Headshot

Wisler was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday.

Wisler was in competition for the team's final starting rotation spot during spring training, but was ultimately beat out by Mike Foltynewicz. In three starts with Triple-A Gwinnett, the 24-year-old posted a 3.50 ERA and an 11:4 K:BB ratio over 18 innings. He'll round out the back-end of the Braves' bullpen.
11:36 am (EST)
JaCoby Jones Headshot

Jones (face) will undergo a CT scan when the team returns to Detroit, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Jones was diagnosed with a lip laceration after being hit by a pitch in Saturday's game, and he was placed on the DL before Sunday's game. Jones said Sunday his teeth were hurting on the left side of his face, but he's glad none of those teeth were knocked out. With Jones out, Andrew Romine and Mikie Mahtook should see more time in the Detroit outfield.
11:36 am (EST)
David Price Headshot

Price (elbow) is scheduled to throw 45-to-50 pitches in a bullpen session Monday, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.

Assuming he feels fine coming out of Monday's workout, it will likely be the fourth final bullpen session for Price before he's cleared to head out on a rehab assignment in the minors. Since Price was sidelined throughout Grapefruit League play with the elbow soreness, he'll likely need several starts across multiple affiliates in order to build up his arm strength, so it's possible he won't be activated from the disabled list until mid-May.
