DFS NFL WR Coach: Week 8 Cover Image
Ty Montgomery Headshot

Ty Montgomery (illness) was limited in practice on Thursday.

Montgomery is dealing with a cold at the moment and should be fine come Week 8 and a matchup against the struggling Atlanta defense. He has become a fairly integral part of the Packers offense in the last two weeks, having logged back-to-back 10 catch games and leading the team in rushing carries with nine in Week 7. If he is still available in your league, a pickup would be wise given his versatility and clear number of touches each game.

T.Y. Hilton Headshot

T.Y. Hilton (hip) did not practice on Thursday.

Much like the QB throwing him the ball, he is under rep counts in practice to keep him fresh for the field come Sunday. Hilton has been the recipient of some late game heroics the last couple of weeks and is putting up elite-type numbers once again in the Colts friendly offensive scheme. He should be fine to play in Week 8 but does face a potentially tough matchup against a solid Kansas City pass defense and Marcus Peters.

Randall Cobb Headshot

Randall Cobb (hamstring) was limited in practice on Thursday.

Cobb has done very little the last two days at practice and was reportedly a glorified spectator in Thursday's session with the balky hamstring slowing him down. He hasn't really produced to the level assumed coming into the season and now has challengers for his role in Davante Adams and Ty Montgomery who are both coming off big weeks. Green Bay faces a getable Falcons defense in Week 8 but may be without the services of Cobb if he can't show some more in practice before hand.

Andrew Luck Headshot

Andrew Luck (shoulder) was limited in practice on Thursday.

Luck has had a continuing theme all season of having limited sessions on Thursday's to keep his bothersome shoulder fresh for the games. To this point, the shoulder has not been as big of a concern as his limited receiving core has been, which should be bolstered shortly with the return of Donte Moncrief. He should be started every week he is on the field, unless there are better options on your roster, though unlikely.

Donte Moncrief Headshot

Donte Moncrief (shoulder) was limited in practice on Thursday.

Moncrief has been starting to practice this week as he comes back from a broken bone in his shoulder suffered in Week 2. However he is still wearing a non-contact jersey and is listed as a limited participant which does hold down the optimism for him playing on Sunday in Week 8. When he does return, there is no doubt that he will slot right back into the second receiver role he was in prior to the injury. Philip Dorsett's shelf life is coming to a quick end.

Lamar Miller Headshot

Lamar Miller (shoulder) was limited in practice on Thursday.

Miller is still dealing with a shoulder injury that crept up on him during the Week 7 game in Denver. He did manage to continue playing in the game but afterwards Head Coach Bill O'Brien considered him day-to-day with the ailment. Alfred Blue was the beneficiary of Miller not being at full strength and figures to be once again in Week 8 against Detroit, if Miller can't in fact recover in time to tote the rock.

Marvin Jones Headshot

Marvin Jones returned to the Lions on Thursday after tending to the birth of his daughter.

Congratulations are in order for the Jones household after the arrival of the newest member. Jones hasn't been there most of the week but is in no danger of not playing come Week 8 in Houston despite missing practices. He continues to be a very solid produce in the Lions pass-happy scheme and with Golden Tate still struggling to find footing as the number one threat, Jones has been there to pick up the remnants.

Jerick McKinnon Headshot

Jerick McKinnon (ankle) did not practice on Thursday.

McKinnon left Week 7's loss with the ankle injury but was still in a walking boot come Thursday's session. The fact that four days later, he is still in a boot, despite his coach saying he "should be fine" after the loss, doesn't bode well for his availability come Week 8. If he can't go, Matt Asiata figures to see the bulk of the carries out of the backfield against a get able Bears defense.

Cordarrelle Patterson Headshot

Cordarrelle Patterson (concussion) did not practice on Thursday.

Patterson took a big shot in the Week 7 loss to Philadelphia and is still in the concussion protocol late this week as well. Until he clears the protocol, he won't be able to practice or play. At this point it's fair to call him unlikely to be out there in Week 8, though the extra day may help his cause more than a normal week.
