Mauricio Cabrera Headshot

Cabrera (elbow) will open the season on the disabled list, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

As was expected, Cabrera will begin the season on the DL after experiencing some elbow soreness earlier in camp. The Braves don't appear worried about the issue, as there has been no indication of structural damage; rather, the team will take things slow with the 23-year-old, who appears to simply need more rest.

Santiago Casilla Headshot

Casilla, who started Wednesday's 15-11 Cactus League loss to the Cubs due to Kendall Graveman being scratched with an illness, gave up five earned runs on two hits and two walks over just one-third of an inning.

The veteran reliever gave up a solo home run to Kyle Schwarber and grand slam to Albert Almora, Jr. during a disastrous first inning in which he faced just six batters. Casilla had turned in a scoreless inning apiece in each of his previous two outings, but he's also surrendered two earned runs each in two other trips to the mound. The 36-year-old righty's exact role in the bullpen is yet to be determined, but he now has a 16.20 ERA and 2.60 WHIP over five spring frames.
6:34 pm (EST)
Sean Gilmartin Headshot

Gilmartin (shoulder) pitched two innings against the Reds on Wednesday and allowed one run off three hits and two walks.

Wednesday was Gilmartin's first outing since March 8. The southpaw had been dealing with an unspecified shoulder ailment and eased his way back to game action over the month. Although he hasn't pitched much this spring, Gilmartin's limited outings haven't been his best as he's given up six runs off 11 hits, four of which were home runs, over five games (8.2 innings).

Cristiano Felicio Headshot

Felicio (back) will suit up for Thursday's matchup against the Cavaliers, Cody Westerlund of CBS Chicago reports.

The Bulls' reserve big man has missed the past three outings due to a bruised lower back, but should see the floor Thursday after logging a full practice Wednesday. He'll likely hover around the 15-minute range behind starter Robin Lopez.
6:31 pm (EST)
Christian Walker Headshot

Walker was outrighted to Triple-A Reno on Thursday, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Two days after claiming Walker, the Diamondbacks have passed him through waivers and outrighted him off the 40-man roster. He'll spend the year as organizational depth in 2017.
6:28 pm (EST)
Blake Pietila Headshot

Pietila was reassigned to AHL Albany on Thursday.

With Micahel Cammalleri returning from a shoulder injury Friday, space needs to be made on the New Jersey roster and Pietila is the odd man out. The 24-year-old managed an assist, nine shots on goal, and a minus-4 rating while up with the big club.
6:26 pm (EST)
Joe Panik Headshot

Panik (shoulder) is in the lineup for Thursday's game against Oakland.

After sitting out a couple days to avoid aggravating his shoulder, Panik is set to return to action. Panik's numbers this spring have been reminiscent of what he's shown through his career, as he's hitting .273 with a .774 OPS through 17 games.
6:24 pm (EST)
Jimmy Nelson Headshot

Nelson is scheduled to start the Brewers' fifth game of the season.

Nelson struggled following of scoreless outings to start spring, allowing eight runs in his next two appearances to shoot his ERA up to 5.68 in Cactus League play. Despite his struggles, however, the 27-year-old is scheduled to round out the Brewers' rotation with Matt Garza headed for the DL to begin the year. Nelson showed some potential at the start of last season, but second half struggles eventually saw his ERA balloon to 4.62. He'll look to bounce back in 2017 and earn his keep in the rotation.
6:23 pm (EST)
Tony Zych Headshot

Zych fired a 1-2-3 inning against Double-A San Antonio on Wednesday, Bob Dutton of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.

It was another one-inning rehab outing for Zych, who'll continue to round back into shape from biceps tendon transfer surgery in the minors once the regular season starts. He needed only 10 pitches to get through his one frame, his third such appearance this spring.
