Aroldis Chapman Headshot

Yankees have signed Aroldis Chapman to a five-year contract worth $86 million.

The Yankees traded a bunch of prospects for Chapman, and then shipped him to the Cubs for a boatload of prospects. After getting a ring with the Cubs, Chapman entered free agency and signed back with the Bronx Bombers. The hard-throwing southpaw will be the team's closer, pushing Dellin Betances to a setup role. The Yankees may struggle a bit, but Chapman should still notch quite a few saves while helping out your fantasy team's ratios.

Gary Harris Headshot

Gary Harris could return in about a week.

Harris is expected to resume practicing here pretty soon, signifying that he is slightly ahead of schedule. He has missed the team's last 11 games with a sprained foot, but it seems to be that he could return in the next week to 10 days. His return will cut into some of Will Barton's playing time.

J.R. Smith Headshot

J.R. Smith (knee) is questionable for Friday's game.

Smith hyper-extended his left knee, but an MRI determined no additional damage to his knee. If he is going to miss Friday's game, DeAndre Liggins will likely get another start.

Jose Iglesias Headshot

Jose Iglesias is getting plenty of interest from other teams.

Iglesias can hit for a decent average and has a little speed, but his biggest calling card is his slick-fielding. His numbers over 162 games come to a slash line of .275/.325/.353 with four home runs, 35 RBI and 10 stolen bases. Like I said, he gives you a bit at the plate and on the bases, but signing him to a contract means you are paying mostly for his glove.

Donatas Motiejunas Headshot

Donatas Motiejunas had until Wednesday night for his physical with the Rockets and never showed.

At this point, Houston should just let him go. There was a difference in the money between the Rockets and the Nets, and that is the reported reason as to why he won't show up. This is definitely something to watch moving forward, because Motiejunas is a quality player who has averaged 7.8 points and 4.0 rebounds per game over his career.

Nikola Jokic Headshot

Nuggets coach Mike Malone could make changers to the starting lineup Thursday.

The Nuggets battled back tonight, but ultimately still lost. Also the fact that it was to the Brooklyn Nets makes it even worse. Wilson Chandler and Will Barton have been the only real bright spots on this team to date.

Rodney McGruder Headshot

Rodney McGruder said his ankle is fine and he will play Friday.

McGruder logged 31 minutes tonight, and played pretty well. He said he's going to be fine moving forward and that he'll be out there on Friday night. With that in mind, his ankle injury can't be that serious.

Chris Heston Headshot

Mariners acquired RHP Chris Heston from Giants.

Going to Seattle is actually a good thing for Heston because it's going to be much easier to crack the rotation here, compared to his former squad. An oblique injury ended his 2016 campaign, but there's not much worry that it carries into spring training. His fantasy value is low, however, considering the fact that he'll head into camp behind Nate Karns and Ariel Miranda for the final two spots in the rotation. He's only an injury or a dominant spring training away from cracking the rotation.

Richie Shaffer Headshot

Mariners designated Richie Shaffer for assignment.

Shaffer has been pretty bad in brief major league stints, so it's not a real surprise that he's been designated for assignment. He shouldn't be on any fantasy draft boards this season.

Demar Dotson Headshot

Demar Dotson missed Wednesday's practice due to a concussion.

Dotson has started every game for the Bucs this season and he will need to pass the league's mandated concussion protocol if he wants to play this weekend. The Southern Mississippi product should be considered "out" until he passes the protocol.
