Well, we suppose holding up a sign asking for a chance in the NFL doesn't always work. Anderson stood on the side of the road last year with a piece of cardboard asking NFL team's to give him a chance. The Jets signed him to their practice squad but less than a year later, cut Anderson. Maybe use a fancier poster next time, Mr. Anderson.
Nothing more than a standard off day for the 28-year old on Thursday. He'll be replaced by Ezequiel Carrera in left field. With left-handed pitcher Derek Holland on the mound, Carrera's .444 average against lefties gets the nod in the starting lineup.
Segura was able to return on Wednesday in a pinch-hitting role after sitting out two games but will draw his first start of the week on Thursday. Segura has been a silver lining for the 12-17 D'Backs. His average is sitting at an outstanding .339 while he's blasted four homers and has swiped four bags out of the leadoff role. Consider Segura in all of your DFS lineups.
This was something we should have expected, especially when the news broke that he didn't practice on Thursday. The Warriors are up 2-0 and held their home floor fairly easily. We should circle Game 4 on our calendars as that could ultimately be the first time we see the league's MVP back in action.
Within the next couple of days, Yankees fans might get to see Ben Gamel's debut with the team. It's likely Brett Gardner will sit out with a sore wrist and we should consider him day-to-day, so Gamel will subsequently take all of the at-bats against right-handed pitchers. Gamel was hitting .286 with one home run and nine RBI in Triple-A this season.
Just a day after being called up and available for Wednesday's game against the Orioles. Pazos is on his way back to Triple-A. The Yankees needed a bat and called up Ben Gamel and didn't need another lefty out of their pen for the time being.
Gardner has been playing through an aggravated elbow but will take the day off on Thursday. Manager Joe Girardi noted Gardy might sit for the next few games as the Boston Red Sox come into town starting on Friday. The Yanks called up outfielder Ben Gamel who will likely draw some playing time against right-handed pitchers.
With Neil Ramirez away from the team, it opened up a spot on the roster and Spencer Patton will join the team for the time being. Patton doesn't have the best major league track record as just last season he allowed 24 earned runs in 24 innings pitched. The math suggests that's not very good.
Unfortunately for Ramirez, he has had to place on the bereavement list due to a death of someone close to him. He's pitched in six games in 2016, notching a 4.50 ERA in six innings.
Gallardo's original timeframe was 4-to-6 weeks which would indicate a late-May return. If that is going to hold true, throwing is going to have to take place very soon as we're already five days into the month. Gallardo had looked awful being hurting his shoulder, allowing 13 earned runs in his last three starts.
