E.J. Gaines Headshot

Gaines made seven tackles (six solo) and had an interception in Sunday's victory over the Broncos.

Gaines also had three pass breakups as the Bills defense held Trevor Siemian in check throughout the afternoon. The Buffalo defense faces a tall task in Week 4 as they take on reigning MVP Matt Ryan and the Falcons.

Craig Smith Headshot

Smith put three shots on goal for Nashville in their 5-3 preseason victory over Columbus on Sunday.

The Wisconsin native was held off of the scoreboard but still had a strong night, throwing three shots on goal while winning 50 percent of his faceoffs. Smith skated on the second line with Kevin Fiala and Nick Bonino, and was on the second power play unit as well. After having a career low 29 points last season, Smith has the tools to bounce back to the 40-point range -- a consistent role on the second power play would go a long way towards helping his cause.

Chris Conley Headshot

Conley didn't catch a pass during Sunday's game against the Chargers.

Conley saw the field on 81 percent of offensive snaps, even more than top wideout Tyrek Hill. The second-year man out of Georgia has yet to realize his potential and may be running out of time to do so. There's nothing to suggest he will be more involved in the offense moving forward.
7:54 pm (EST)
Kevin Fiala Headshot

Fiala lit up the scoreboard in a 5-3 preseason victory over Columbus on Sunday, finding the back of the net twice.

The speedster scored with 110 seconds left in the second period, and then added an empty netter to put away Columbus for good. Fiala's fractured femur seems to be a distant memory, and after having a strong 2016-17 regular season Fiala will likely be handed a second line role for the 2017-18 season.

Hyun-Jin Ryu (L) Headshot

Ryu (forearm) experienced reduced swelling and played catch Monday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Ryu suffered a bruise after he was struck by a line drive Saturday. He will complete a bullpen session later in the week, at which point his availability for Friday's start against the Rockies will be determined. Ideally, the Dodgers can get him in one more game before the postseason begins.
7:52 pm (EST)
Victor Hedman Headshot

Hedman was unable to convert his five shots on goal Sunday, as Tampa Bay was defeated 4-2 by Florida in the preseason contest.

The Swedish star didn't have his best performance, as he was held off the scoresheet. Still, Hedman peppered James Reimer with five shots, stemming from the ridiculous 7:44 of power-play time he logged with the first unit. After scoring 16 goals and 54 assists in his excellent 71-point 2016-17 campaign, a third straight All-Star season is almost expected from the 26-year-old -- but don't be surprised if his goal total slightly drops, as the 9.6 shooting percentage he recorded last season was his career high.
7:52 pm (EST)
Alex Killorn Headshot

Killorn collected two assists in Sunday's preseason contest, but took the 4-2 loss to Florida.

Killorn's line was the only offense Tampa Bay had all night, as he and his linemates were directly responsible for both goals. After contributing strong play last season for Tampa Bay, the left winger is seemingly penciled into a top six forward role with the team. With Tyler Johnson and Steven Stamkos as the top two centers, Killorn has a great chance to beat his career high points total of 41.
7:50 pm (EST)
Vernon Davis Headshot

Davis secured all five of his targets for 58 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 27-10 victory over the Raiders.

It's hard to believe just how fast and nimble Davis is in his age-33 season, but he reminded a few Raiders defenders Sunday night that he's still a force to be reckoned with in this league -- namely CB Sean Smith, who was benched by Oakland after getting torched by Davis on an 18-yard scoring strike. Of course, Davis only started because Jordan Reed (chest) wasn't able to play, but Reed is averaging over four missed games per season he's been in the league, making Davis very relevant in most formats for occasional streaming purposes.
7:50 pm (EST)
Charcandrick West Headshot

West carried the ball just two times for a loss of a yard and caught two passes for 14 yards.

West was only on the field for 14 snaps during the contest, cementing him well behind Kareem Hunt on the depth chart. He remains the direct backup to Hunt, however, and would likely take over in the backfield should Hunt suffer an injury.
7:50 pm (EST)
Keith Yandle Headshot

Yandle logged one hit Sunday, helping his team earn a 4-2 preseason victory over Tampa Bay.

The workhorse was held off the point sheet, but still logged a team high 20:32 of time on ice -- including 4:34 on the first power-play unit and 3:33 on the penalty kill. Although Yandle played on the first defensive unit Sunday, Aaron Ekblad wasn't in the lineup and Yandle will likely be bumped down to a second pairing with Mark Pysyk when the 2017-18 season starts. The 31-year-old has put up three straight 40-point seasons, and there's no reason he can't continue the trend this year.
