Joonas Korpisalo Headshot

Korpisalo will don the Finnish colors at the IIHF World Championships in May, Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch reports.

Put frankly, Korpisalo didn't play well in 2016-17. While serving as the primary backup to Sergei Bobrovsky this season, he posted just a 2.88 GAA and a .905 save percentage while appearing in 14 different contests. At just 22 years of age, the youngster has some time to get it together. However, the club has other goaltenders in the pipeline that could also challenge him for the future job. Bobrovsky remains under contract for another two seasons, so the best Korpisalo can hope for is a backup role again in 2017-18. For now, he'll look to get in some competitive action on the international level during the offseason.

Jason Castro Headshot

Castro is not in the lineup Monday against the Rangers, LaVelle Neal of the Star Tribune reports.

After appearing behind the plate in each of the last six games, Castro will head to the bench as Chris Gimenez takes over as backstop. The 29-year-old has cooled off after a hot start to the season, collecting just four hits in his last nine games (30 at-bats).
4:59 pm (EST)
Paul Goldschmidt Headshot

Goldschmidt is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Padres.

Monday appears to be a rare off day for the Diamondbacks slugger, as the team will instead start Chris Herrmann at first base. Assuming there is no underlying injury at play, Goldschmidt will almost certainly be back in the lineup on Tuesday.
4:58 pm (EST)
Max Kepler Headshot

Kepler is not in the lineup Monday against the Rangers, LaVelle Neal of the Star Tribune reports.

Despite knocking a two-run bomb in Sunday's series finale against the Tigers, Kepler will head to the bench as Robbie Grossman takes over in right field and Kennys Vargas slides over to DH.
4:55 pm (EST)
Jake Odorizzi Headshot

Odorizzi (hamstring) is scheduled to throw four innings of a simulated game Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Odorizzi is nearing a return to the Rays after tossing a 36-pitch bullpen Saturday without any issues. He'll get up and down four times in his next session to simulate a game and, if all goes well, it's looking like he could return to the lineup for next Monday's matchup against the Marlins.
4:49 pm (EST)
Zack Cozart Headshot

Cozart (wrist) will start at shortstop and bat seventh in the order Monday against the Brewers, MLB.com's Mark Sheldon reports.

Cozart was scratched from the lineup ahead of Sunday's series finale against the Cubs with a sore left wrist, but it appears his removal was more precautionary than anything. After completing batting practice without any apparent issues Monday, Cozart should be good to go for the Reds' six-game slate this week. The veteran shortstop is off to a tremendous start to the campaign, batting .370 with eight extra-base hits and nine RBI.
4:39 pm (EST)
Jett Bandy Headshot

Bandy is out of the lineup Monday against the Reds.

With a .308 average on the season and six of his 12 hits going for extra bases, Bandy has been extremely productive this season, but his partner in the catching timeshare, Manny Pina, has been even better. As a result, Pina will be rewarded with a second straight start Monday, forcing Bandy to ride the pine again. Manager Craig Counsell will likely continue to give both his backstops regular playing time until one of them starts to cool down.
4:36 pm (EST)
Steve Delabar Headshot

Delabar was suspended 80 games for violating the MiLB Drug Prevention Program.

Delabar hadn't appeared in a minor-league game due to the looming suspension. He hasn't been an effective big league reliever since 2013, so this isn't too much of a loss for the Indians.
4:36 pm (EST)
Travis Shaw Headshot

Shaw is not in Monday's lineup against the Reds.

Considering that the Brewers are facing a lefty in Amir Garrett, it makes sense why the left-handed-hitting Shaw was given the day off in favor of Hernan Perez. He is a good bet to return to the hot corner when Milwaukee faces off against Scott Feldman on Tuesday.
