Matthews suffered a bone bruise on his left knee on Aug. 5 and the injury has kept him sidelined for nearly two weeks now. He has told reporters he fully expects to be ready for Week 1 however I am sure many fantasy owners would like to see him on the field before then to prove he is good to go.
Bridgewater did not play in the Vikings second preseason game due to a sore shoulder that both he and the team deemed was not a real issue and that he was held out for precautionary reasons. The fact that he will play this week should calm any fears that the Vikings QB is dealing with any sort of serious injury. The Vikings offense is still going to be run heavy but Bridgewater showed last year that he can move the ball through the air when necessary.
Aaron Hicks is getting the start in center field on Wednesday in place of Ellsbury who is getting a scheduled day off. Ellsbury did hit a home run and drive in two RBI on Tuesday but on a whole this season has been an utter disappointment for the Yankees center fielder and those who owned him in fantasy.
Crisp is getting a day off just about every three games to keep him healthy over the final few months of the season. Jake Smolinski is getting the start in center field and batting leadoff for the A's on Wednesday.
Shawn O'Malley is getting the start at third base on Wednesday with Seager getting a scheduled day off. O'Malley is hitting just .252 this season so there is no real fantasy value in his start today.
Rizzo is getting a day off on Wednesday and should be back in the Cubs lineup when they next take the field. Kris Bryant is sliding across the diamond to start at first base in Rizzo's absence.
