Michael Ynoa Headshot

Ynoa appears to have won an Opening Day roster spot after the White Sox optioned Zack Burdi to Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday, Dan Hayes of CSN Chicago reports.

Ynoa had a rough spring, surrendering nine earned runs in 15.2 innings, but his solid showing last season with the White Sox probably convinced the team to keep him around. The 25-year-old offers some intriguing strikeout potential thanks to his mid-90s fastball, but he'll have to do a better job with his control and command in order to work his way into a high-leverage role out of the bullpen.

George Hill Headshot

Hill won't play in Wednesday's game against the Kings due to a right groin strain, Andy Larsen of KSL News reports.

Hill hadn't missed any time due to his current groin injury yet and it's unclear how he suffered it. With Raul Neto (groin) also out and Alec Burks (personal) questionable, the Jazz could be down to just Dante Exum and Shelvin Mack at point guard for Wednesday's tilt. Looking ahead, Hill's first chance to return will be on Friday against the Wizards.
2:56 pm (EST)
Raul Neto Headshot

Neto has been ruled out of Wednesday's matchup with the Kings due to a right groin strain, Andy Larsen of KSL News reports.

It's unclear how Neto suffered his groin injury or how severe it is. His status for Friday's game against the Wizards is up in the air for the time being. Look Dante Exum and Shelvin Mack to see some extra time while Neto and starting point guard George Hill (groin) are sidelined.
2:52 pm (EST)
Anthony Swarzak Headshot

Swarzak appears to have won an Opening Day roster spot with the White Sox, CSN Chicago's Dan Hayes reports.

With the White Sox demoting Zack Burdi to Triple-A and Juan Minaya (abdomen) set to open the season the DL, Swarzak looks poised to serve as the club's long reliever. Swarzak split last season between Triple-A and the big leagues, accruing a 5.52 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 31 innings with the Yankees.
2:52 pm (EST)
Joseph LaBate Headshot

LaBate was reassigned to AHL Utica on Wednesday.

The rookie has been thoroughly outplayed by Brock Boeser, a winger prospect from the University of North Dakota who was called up following his school's first-round playoff departure in the Frozen Four tournament.
2:49 pm (EST)
Addison Russell Headshot

Russell (back) is expected to return to the lineup Thursday when the Cubs take on the Astros, Jesse Sanchez of reports.

Russell insists that he'll be ready for Opening Day, and if all goes well in Thursday's contest, it's very likely that he will be. The young shortstop's back is reportedly feeling 100 percent as of now, so fantasy owners shouldn't be concerned about his status moving forward unless he experiences a hiccup in Thursday's bout.
2:48 pm (EST)
David Paulino Headshot

Paulino (elbow) is expected to begin a throwing program within the next day or two,'s Brian McTaggart reports.

Paulino is set to open the season on the disabled list after he was sidelined since March 10 with a bone bruise in his right elbow, but it sounds like three weeks of rest have helped remedy the issue. He'll likely remain at extended spring training for a few weeks while he works to increase his pitch count, and could make rehab appearances at a few of the Astros' lower-level affiliates before likely settling into the Triple-A Fresno rotation. Paulino, who is one of the team's top pitching prospects, could be a rotation option for the Astros at some point later in 2017 if injuries hit the big-league staff.
2:43 pm (EST)
Louis Domingue Headshot

Domingue is the confirmed starter for Wednesday's home tilt against the Blues, Craig Morgan of Arizona Sports reports.

Coyotes coach Dave Tippett has been going with Domingue about once a week, which is not unusual for a backup goalie. He's posted a 9-14-1 record to go along with similarly poor peripherals (3.13 GAA, .904 save percentage) through 28 games this season. He's not a strong fantasy option with the regular season winding down.
2:42 pm (EST)
Collin McHugh Headshot

McHugh (arm) is scheduled to throw a simulated game Saturday in Florida,'s Brian McTaggart reports.

The Astros have already indicated that McHugh will open the season on the 10-day DL after he was slowed by a case of dead arm in spring training, and the right-hander is still in the process of building up his pitch count. After being tagged for three runs and five hits over 1.2 innings Monday against the Cardinals, McHugh looks like he still has some issues to resolve, so he'll toss approximately 75 pitches Saturday before the Astros reassess his condition. If the simulated game goes well, McHugh is expected to head to a minor-league affiliate for one start next week before being activated. Mike Fiers looks most at risk of losing his rotation spot once McHugh is deemed ready to go.
