Carlos Gomez is dealing with soreness in his rib and will miss a few days.

That is a bit of good news for his owners, as he has been putting up awful results in April. Perhaps the injury is why he is not effective, once again.

Russell Martin is not in Saturday's starting lineup.

Josh Thole will catch on Saturday. Martin has not been a productive catcher this season, and until he gets things going, you should consider sitting him in seasonal leagues and not putting him in your daily lineups

Giants have called up Vin Mazzaro from Triple-A Sacramento.

Mike Broadway was sent to the minors on Saturday, opening a slot for Mazzaro. He is at best a middle inning reliever for the Giants. You can safely ignore him on the wire.

Corey Dickerson is not in Saturday's starting lineup.

Dickerson will hit the pine as he does not fare well against southpaws. With J.A. Happ on the mound Saturday, Steven Souza will replace Dickerson in the Rays' lineup at DH.

Pirates have optioned Rob Scahill to Triple-A-Indianapolis.

With the team activating Jared Hughes on Saturday, Scahill is getting sent out to Triple-A. Scahill was not effective at the major league level and will head back to minor to await a future call up.

Pirates have activated Jared Hughes from the 15-day disabled list.

Hughes has been dealing with a lat injury, but will now be joining the Pirates bullpen. He is noting exciting in terms of fantasy production, being more a real life asset than a guy you want to target off the waiver wire.

Jesse Hahn was promoted from Triple-A Nashville to be Saturday's starting pitcher.

Hahn gets the start on Saturday, replacing Andrew Triggs on the roster. He has posted a fine 2.04 ERA with 13 Ks in the minors so far, and thus is a decent option for a spot start.
