Nationals recall RHP Rafael Martin from Triple-A Syracuse.

Stephen Strasburg went on the DL on Sunday and this is the roster move the Nats said was coming. Martin has made 29 relief appearances with a 4.29 ERA at Triple-A thus far in 2016. With the way the rotation sets up for Tuesday, Washington will need a starter so this could be a one-day trip to the bigs just in case Monday is a bullpen game for Joe Ross.

Red Sox option RHP William Cuevas to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Cuevas was called up for the Rangers series and pitched 2 2/3 innings in Texas. He has been sent down in favor of an extra bat/defense option in Mike Miller for the Rays series. He should come up later in the season for a fresh arm in the pen.

Red Sox select the contract of INF Mike Miller from Triple-A Pawtucket.

Miller was a ninth round pick in the 2012 Amateur Draft and has been splitting time between Double-A and Triple-A this season with 46 games player in the latter. He is a utility defense option as he plays second, third, and short. His bat isn't great with a .251 AVG in 2016. He is just an extra bat for the Rays series.

Brandon Phillips is not in Monday's starting lineup.

Phillips is getting the day off on Monday after playing 70 games already this season as the Reds face Jake Arrieta, who no hit them last time he was at Great American Ballpark. Jose Peraza is starting at second base and batting seventh in place of Phillips. He should be back in the lineup come Tuesday.

Joel Peralta is expected to join the Cubs' bullpen Monday night.

Peralta was released by Seattle earlier in the season and signed a minor league deal with the Cubs before reporting to Triple-A Iowa. He didn't exactly post good numbers in a small sample size in Settle but has look okay at Iowa with two saves and a 4.50 ERA in five appearances. He is taking the place of Gerardo Concepcion in the bullpen and will join the team at Great American Ballpark for the start of the series against the Reds. He really has no value in any format.

Reds recall RHP Jumbo Diaz from Triple-A Louisville.

J.C. Ramirez is heading to L.A. with the Halos claiming him off waivers which opened the spot for Diaz to head back to Cincinnati. He worked as the closer for Louisville converting 11 of 12 save chances with a 0.75 ERA, however things haven't gone well for him at the big leagues. Until his Reds stats come closer to that of the Bats, he isn't exactly fantasy worthy.

Carlos Correa has been named the American League Player of the Week.

The honor is well-deserved as he hit .333 (8-for-24) with seven extra base hits including three homers. He is the youngest Astro to win a league player of the week as well. There is no doubt that he is a bonafide stud and at playing a premium that only increases his fantasy value.

Gerrit Cole (triceps) threw 15 fastballs off a mound for the first time Sunday. He will throw a few more bullpen sessions on the upcoming road trip before the team lays out a rehab assignment schedule.

Cole last pitched on June 10th against the Cardinals in which he was removed after two innings due to his triceps injury. While this is certainly good news that he was able to throw on Sunday without issue there is still a ways to go before he is back on the mound as the Pirates will be in no rush to activate him until he is 100 percent.

Matt Cain (hamstring) could be ready for a rehab assignment as early as Friday, July 1. He will have one more throwing session this week.

If Cain begins his rehab assignment July 1, the earliest he would return would likely be right after the All-Star break. It looks like fantasy players can probably expect him back towards the end of July. Cain had been throwing well before suffering his injury, but his value is still confined to deep leagues until he proves it was not a fluke.
