Jose Abreu Headshot

Jose Abreu was 2-for-3 with an RBI in Sunday’s 5 - 4 comeback win over Detroit by the White Sox.

Although Jose Abreu had another productive day at the plate, he has not homered in his last 24 games for the White Sox. He has reached base safely in 41 of his last 44 games, and raised his average in the process but this is not what his fantasy owners drafted him for. Abreu drove in his 55th run on Sunday and is now hitting .273/.331/.427 on the year. He does have two hits in five at-bats against Jake Arrieta who he will face on Monday but his homerless streak may reach 25 in the process.

Aroldis Chapman Headshot

The Cubs and Yankees are closing in on a deal that would center around the Cubs sending prospect Gleyber Torres to the Yankees for reliever Aroldis Chapman.

In a deal which could be mutually beneficial, the Yankees and Cubs are closing in on a trade of Aroldis Chapman. Prospect Gleyber Torres was scratched from his game in High-A Myrtle Beach on Sunday and it points to a potential deal. Torres was the 28th best prospect according to MLB.com at the onset of the season. He is hitting .275 with nine home runs and 23 doubles while playing against much older competition. Although the Cubs have a logjam in the infield, Torres is a much better prospect than the Yankees gave up to acquire Chapman for this winter. Chapman has 20 saves for New York this year despite missing a month due to a suspension. He has a 2.01 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 31.1 innings pitched this season. If the deal becomes official on Monday, look for Andrew Miller to return to the closer role for the Yankees and fantasy owners will have to await to see how John Maddon handles Chapman and incumbent Hector Rondon moving forward.

Braden Shipley Headshot

Diamondbacks will call up prospect Braden Shipley to start on Monday.

With Zack Greinke still on the disabled list and Shelby Miller in the minors, Arizona will promote prospect Braden Shipley to pitch on Monday at Milwaukee. Shipley is 8 - 5 at Triple-A with 77:22 K:BB over 119.1 innings with a 3.70 ERA in the hitter friendly Pacific Coast League. This will be his major league debut.

Adam Eaton Headshot

Adam Eaton was 2-for-3 with three runs, a three-run home run (6) and two walks in a 5 - 4 win over Detroit by the White Sox.

Not only did Adam Eaton drive in the winning run in the ninth inning of the suspended game, but he scored the winning run in the originally scheduled game on Sunday as well. Eaton finished the series against Detroit going 6-for-13 with a double, home run and four RBI. His bat seems to warming up in the second half but Eaton faces a tough match-up on Monday against Jake Arrieta of the Cubs against whom he is hitless in six prior at bats. For the season, Eaton now has 47 runs with six home runs, 34 RBI and 11 stolen bases over 98 games.

Jose Quintana Headshot

Jose Quintana pitched 6.2 innings of shutout baseball allowing three hits with one walk and four strikeouts in a no-decision during Chicago’s 5 - 4 win over Detroit on Sunday.

To say Jose Quintana deserved a better fate is an understatement. Quintana pitched 6.2 innings of shutout baseball and limited the Tigers to three hits with four strikeouts. It would have been his fourth consecutive win but David Robertson gave up three solo home runs in the ninth inning to blow the save opportunity. Quintana lowered his ERA to 2.97 this year and has a 116:32 K:BB over his 130.1 innings pitched. He will make his next start in Minnesota later this week.

Nick Castellanos Headshot

Nick Castellanos was 1-for-4 with a solo home run (18) in Detroit’s 5 - 4 loss to Chicago on Sunday.

Each home run from here on out will be a new career high for Nick Castellanos. His emergence this year has been a boon to the owners who took him late in drafts. Through 95 games, Castellanos is slashing .297/.336/.525 with 18 home runs and 55 RBI. This was his first extra-base hit in seven games and may point to a hot streak to come this week. When Castellanos hit his home run, he was then followed by pinch-hit blasts by both Tyler Collins and Jarrod Saltalamacchia to tie the game in the ninth. Castellanos will face southpaw Drew Pomeranz on Monday and has mashed left-handed pitching throughout his career.

Andrew Romine Headshot

Andrew Romine was 1-for-3 with a solo home run (1) in the Tigers 5 - 4 loss to the White Sox on Sunday.

Part-time player Andrew Romine hit his first home run of the year off of Nate Jones in the eighth inning to plate Detroit’s first run. He was later lifted for a pinch-hitter. Romine has 69 at-bats this year in 63 games which points to his small fantasy value. While his home run was a benefit to the Tigers, it probably was not cashed in by many in the fantasy community.

Anibal Sanchez Headshot

Anibal Sanchez allowed four runs on 10 hits with five strikeouts over six innings in the Tigers 5 - 4 loss to the White Sox on Sunday.

With his time in the rotation waning, Anibal Sanchez did not help his case to remain a starter for the Tigers. Sanchez gave up 10 hits and four runs in a no-decision after an implosion in the ninth inning by David Robertson. Sanchez has only turned in one quality start since rejoining the rotation and with Daniel Norris and Jordan Zimmermann due back soon, his days may be numbered before returning to the bullpen. If he does start later this week, it will be against the Astros. Bet the over.
