It was a week of breakouts here in week 9 as players like Doug Martin, Andrew Luck, Mikel LeShoure and T.Y. Hilton. Unfortunately it was also a week of injuries as Darren McFadden, Kendall Wright, Jordy Nelson, Percy Harvin, Antonio Brown and Donnie Avery went down and will each miss some time.  At least studs like Aaron Rodgers, Adrian Peterson, Brandon Marshall and the Bears incredible Defense & Special Teams were reliable enough to pull us through to fantasy glory this week.  Let’s take a spin through all of the week 9 games and find out what else went down in fantasy football this week:

Broncos RG Chris Kuper left with ankle injury

AJ Green 10 yard TD reception

Joel Dreessen 1 yard TD reception

Notes

Peyton Manning gets into trouble when he isn’t changing plays at the line of scrimmage.

With the sad state of RB’s in fantasy football, Green-Ellis is still a low end RB2.

Broncos LB Wesley Woodyard was a man amongst boys today making every big tackle for the Broncos Defense

These are two teams going it polar opposite directions. The Bengals aren’t bad but can’t put it all together.

Key Plays

Ray Rice 8 yard TD run

Josh Gordon TD called back for illegal formation

Torrey Smith 19 yard TD reception

Notes

The Ravens are much better when dedicating to running the football. Puts less pressure on Joe Flacco.

The Browns offense is coming along but needs a go to option for executing TD’s instead of FG’s.

Brandon Weeden is incredibly inaccurate when throwing from out of the pocket.

Phil Dawson had 5 FG’s (28,29,32,33 & 41 yards) on the afternoon.

Randall Cobb TD receptions of 13 & 21 yards

RT Brian Baluga carted off with knee injury

James Jones 28 yard TD reception

Clay Matthews left game with hamstring issue

Tom Crabtree 72 yard TD reception

Notes

Alex Green got the early workload and looked good but James Starks came in later and closed out the game.

The Cardinals defense needs to go back and learn how to tackle. The DB’s are simply not interested in it.

Two key free agent pickups from this game: James Starks and Michael Floyd.

I wouldn’t start L. Stephens-Howling if he were the last RB on earth. That is beyond desperation.

Cory Wooton 5 yard TD return of blocked punt

Urlacher 46 yard INT return for TD

Brandon Marshall 13 yard TD reception

Notes

The Bears defense and special teams are simply amazing. Best DST in fantasy football by a mile.

Michael Bush isn’t cutting into Matt Forte’s production nearly as much as I had thought. He’s a RB1 for sure.

Brandon Marshall will probably be the top scoring fantasy WR in 2012. His chemistry with Cutler is amazing.

There is a very good chance that Jake Locker will start next week against the Dolphins in Miami.

Miami secondary continues to be an issue as Andrew Luck sets a rookie single game passing record

Ryan Tannehill does not always look pretty but just has a nose for making good football plays

Notes

Cam Newton stares down Steve Smith and Greg Olsen on every single play

RGIII does not recognize pressure in the pocket or just things he can get away from every one

Evan Royster gets the 2 yard TD run late in game as the passing down back

Stewart is getting a bigger percentage of playing time but it is still a committee approach

Notes

There was no sign at all that Calvin Johnson has been battling an injury at all

Titus Young dropped a 25 yard TD

Justin Blackmon did catch his first TD of the season but amazing how unprepared he looks

A safety early in the game was lost due to a roughing penalty & it was all downhill from there for Jags

CB Joseph – wrist injury but returned

Arian Foster 3 yard TD run

Garrett Graham 5 yard TD catch

Notes

Ryan Fitzpatrick is far too inaccurate for the Bills to be successful against good defenses

Houston continues to be the best play-action team in the league thanks to the great running game

Spiller and Jackson continue to split touches but it is completely obvious who makes the Bills better

Steve Johnson struggled today but continues to show how tough he is to play through injuries

Key Plays

Darren McFadden left game with leg injury

Vincent Jackson 20 yard TD reception

Rod Streater 25 yard TD reception

Doug Martin TD runs of 1, 45, 67 & 70 yards

Notes

McFadden is an absolute weakling.  Mike Goodson will be far more productive in this offense than DMC was.

Derek Hagan had a 47 yard TD reception nullified by a holding penalty.

Doug Martin only had 31 yards at halftime of this game and gained 221 yards in the 2nd half.

Brandon Myers is officially an every week starting TE. I’d rank him easily in the top 8 at this point.

Adrian Peterson TD runs of 1 & 4 yards

Percy Harvin left and returned due to ankle injury

Sidney Rice 11 yard TD Reception

Marshawn Lynch 3 yard TD run

Notes

I really don’t understand why the Vikings risk giving Harvin the ball in the backfield ever, terrible idea.

Never trust a fantasy expert who tells you to sit players like Adrian Peterson in any matchup ever.

This was Russell Wilson’s best game so far.  The yardage wasn’t great but he was very effective throughout.

Christian Ponder needs to be replaced soon. I would consider adding Joe Webb and stashing him this week.

Emmanuel Sanders 4 yard TD reception

Victor Cruz left with a head injury but returned

Michael Boley 70 yard fumble return for TD

Mike Wallace 51 yard TD reception

Notes

Both the Andre Brown TD and the Boley fumble return for TD seemed to be highly questionable calls by refs.

The Steelers offensive line has made tremendous strides in run blocking lately. Big holes for all the RB’s.

Don’t panic and make any crazy decisions over Hakeem Nicks just yet. He will be fine real soon.

If Antonio Brown misses any time, Emmanuel Sanders would be a very good waiver pickup this week.

Injuries

Key Plays

Cowboys NT Jay Ratliff left with ankle injury

Michael Turner 3 yard TD run

Falcons DT Peria Jerry left with a knee injury

Notes

Matt Bryant was 4/6 on FG’s and hit on distances of 32, 36, 45 & 46 yards.

Dan Bailey was 2/3 on FG attempts and hit on distances of 23 & 32 yards.

Dez Bryant didn’t start this game and was mostly used as a decoy throughout.

Atlanta is probably the least impressive 8-0 team you will ever see.
