Frankenstorm didn’t quite ravish NFL stadiums this Sunday but we have officially begun that part of the season where weather plays a dramatic part of what happens in our fantasy leagues. I will recap the San Diego/Cleveland game here but I strongly advise against reading into it whatsoever. Those were some really poor conditions and if you start making decisions based on that game you could miss out on some real nice performances from guys like Phillip Rivers, Ryan Mathews, Malcom Floyd, Josh Gordon and even Brandon Weeden later on this season. Another thing I hope we learned this Sunday is that whenever everybody believes so much in something (such as the Broncos & Saints combining for a ridiculous amount of points) it usually goes the complete other direction. Let’s recap everything we learned in week 8:

Cam Newton fumbled a half yard away from endzone but Louis Murphy recovered for the TD. |
Earl Bennett is a worthy roster addition at least until Alshon Jeffrey returns for a hand injury. |
It is absolutely unbelievable that neither team realized you can’t return a 2 point conversion for points. |
It is inexcusable for the Panthers to have lost this game. Ron Rivera has lost his team and he’ll be fired soon. |

Notes |
The wind/rain was awful throughout this game. Hard to judge Rivers/Weeden fairly after this one. |
Ryan Mathews was allowed to remain in the game even after his early game lost fumble. |
Rivers is throwing off of his back foot way too often. Someone has to get ahold of him and correct this ASAP. |
The Browns would be wise to rely more on the running game going forward. It’ll take pressure off Weeden. |

Notes |

Seahawks playing for a FG with over a minute remaining in 1st half is clear sign R. Wilson is a game manager |
Kevin Smith and Joique Bell split time in Lions backfield after LeShoure left. Monitor throughout week. |
Pete Carroll passed up two opportunities for FG’s in this game and both came back to haunt him. |
Do not panic over Calvin Johnson. The better Matthew Stafford looks/does, the better Calvin will be. |

Notes |
Rams started out quick with a 50 yard TD pass to Givens but offense was absolutely dead after that. |
Brandon Lloyd still a useful fantasy player but he won’t be a big receptions guy. Red zone option mostly. |
Steven Jackson hardly played in 2nd half. It is obvious that Richardson is the new primary RB in St. Louis. |
Patriots are using various RB’s at goal line thereby limiting Ridley’s fantasy value. |

Romeo Crennel said after the game that he didn’t realize that JaMaal Charles only touched the ball 8 times. |
McFadden needs carries to get going. He was bad until the 2nd half when he rattled off 5 gains of 10+ yards. |

Stay as far away from the Chiefs as you possibly can. This is a complete shipwreck with nothing left onboard. |
