Another Sunday is in the books.  It is hard to believe that we are already 5 weeks into the fantasy season and yet there is still so much we haven’t learned.  Such as which is the real Chris Johnson?  Who is the starting RB in San Diego?  Is Cam Newton having a sophomore slump or not?  So many questions are still left unanswered after another action packed day of football.  As always I sat in front of my wall of T.V.’s and watched every last second of these games and took notes throughout.  Here is my week 5 roundup:

Julio Jones 18 yard TD reception

Santana Moss 77 yard TD reception

Michael Turner 13 yard TD run

Notes

After the 2012 NFL Draft I said that Kirk Cousins was a better pure passer than RGIII and I stand by that now.

Anybody who doesn’t think that size matters at WR did not watch Julio Jones dominate this game.

Alfred Morris is approaching RB1 status but I still don’t trust Mike Shanahan enough to anoint him.

Michael Turner is the perfect weapon for the Falcons offense to use to put the game away.

Josh Gordon TD receptions of 62 & 20 yards

Victor Cruz TD catches of 3, 7 & 28 yards

Notes

Browns got off to a hot start but defensively just couldn’t keep up with the Giants offense.

Ahmad Bradshaw made up for early fumble that lead to Browns first TD.

Josh Gordon is a guy who’s raw but getting better each week. Should be owned in most 12 team leagues.

As long as Hakeem Nicks is out, Domenik Hixon is the guy to own on the Giants.

RaShard Mendenhall 13 yard TD run

Brent Celek 2 yard TD reception

Notes

Neither one of these teams is very good but both stay around long enough to survive week to week.

Michael Vick is playing as bad as any QB in the league this year. He lost 2 fumbles in this game.

RaShard Mendenhall looked fresh and strong in this game and could be a huge asset the rest of the year.

The Mendenhall TD “run” was really a reception that was technically behind the line of scrimmage.

Notes

Jamaal Charles fumbles but gets lucky that the ball goes out of OB then Cyrus Gray fumbles the pitch

Cassell passes were off the entire game being either loopy or inaccurate

Chiefs finally getting smart and not letting Cassell throw the ball…running exclusively

Ravens able to run out the last 4:35 of the game with running the ball with Rice

Notes

Cam Newton played worse than any other player this week. He has been an every other week performer so

Far this season but they Panthers are off next week.

For all the talk about how the Seahawks love Russell Wilson they still only let him throw 25 times today.

The announcers actually said during that game that they felt like Newton may have a personal issue with Greg Olsen and that was why he wasn’t looking at him whatsoever today.

Gabbert threw two 36 yard pick 6’s to Bears Defense

Alshon Jeffrey 10 yard TD reception

Brandon Marshall 24 yard TD reception

Notes

Charles Tillman and Lance Briggs became the first defensive teammates in NFL history to each return an

Interception for a TD in consecutive weeks.

Jay Cutler will run into trouble against better defenses who realize just how much he focuses on Marshall.

The realization that Blaine Gabbert isn’t a starting NFL QB is starting to set in the Jacksonville locker room.

Percy Harvin 4 yard TD run

Jerome Simpson left with left ankle soreness

Percy Harvin 10 yard TD catch

Javon Ringer suffered a major knee injury late

Jared Cook 10 yard TD reception

Notes

Percy Harvin is going to lead the league in receptions because the Vikings literally have nobody else there.

Chris Johnson is unstartable at this point. The only thing he will add to your fantasy team is pain.

Kendall Wright is an absolute start.  Get him any which way you can before it is too late!

Kyle Rudolph is a beast in the red zone. He is going to grab 10+ TD’s this season.

Tom Brady 1 yard TD run

Stevan Ridley 8 yard TD run

Notes

McGahee dropped crucial 4th and 1 pass that would have put Broncos in red zone early in 4th quarter.

The Broncos defense is full of good players but is playing awful as a unit right now.

This was the first time since 1978 that the Patriots ran for over 200 yards in consecutive games.

Gronkowski is hindered by a hip injury that seems to be getting worse every week.

Kyle Williams 43 yard TD reception

Michael Crabtree 28 yard TD reception

Mario Manningham 10 yard TD reception

Notes

The 49ers set a franchise record for most yardage gained in a single game with 621 yards.

The Bills wasted all of that money they spent to help their defense as it is worse than last year now.

Colin Kaepernick is getting significant time as the wild cat QB lately & he scored on a 16 yard run today.

Randy Moss is an absolute afterthought on this 49ers team and should not be owned in any format.

Meachem TD catches of 15 & 44 yards

Colston TD catches of 19, 16 & 5 yards

Devery Henderson 40 yard TD reception

Notes

Drew Brees broke Johnny Unitas’ record by throwing a TD in his 48th straight game.

Ryan Mathews established himself as the lead RB in the Chargers offense with his performance tonight.

Don’t put too much into Meachem. He was facing his former team tonight and had extra motivation.

Mark Ingram should be dropped in most fantasy formats at this time.
