There are only 2 emotions that you can feel at a time like this.  Those are either joyous ecstasy or complete devastation.  To get this far in your fantasy football season is a wonderful achievement.  But to lose the final game is as painful as a kick to the gonads (ovaries for all the lady readers).  Who would have thought 16 weeks ago that players like Tony Romo, Knowshon Moreno, Reggie Bush and Danario Alexander would be leading their teams to a championship?  On the flip side who would have thought just last week that Adrian Peterson, Arian Foster, Andre Johnson and Robert Griffin III would be coming up short for us just when we needed them the most?  For those of you who's season ended this week I congratulate you whether you won or lost this week on a very successful season.  For those who march on into the unknown waters of week 17...let's first take a look back at all that we learned this week:

Brandon Bolden got two chances to score from the 1 but could not get in before Welker TD

Notes

Arian Foster unable to do nothing in the first half with 12 yards on 8 carries and also lost a fumble

HHouston had first 1st & goal at the 1 and just had some terrible play calling so they had to settle for a FG

The Texan did not even show up today and struggle with teams that get after the quarterback

Vikings will need defensive efforts like this if they can make the playoffs. Ponder poses no passing threat.

David Thomas 3 yard TD reception

Notes

Mark Ingram rushed 21-53 yards with a TD in this game and also caught 1 pass for 7 yards.

Nobody can blame Tony Romo for any of the Cowboys problems this year. He has been absolutely fantastic,

While Dez Bryant has become a top 5 WR this season, Miles Austin is almost an afterthought even on his team

The Saints are going to have to figure something out with all of their RB’s before next season.

Chris Johnson left game with ankle but returned

Randall Cobb 20 yard TD reception

Ryan Grant TD runs of 7 & 9 yards

Notes

Ryan Grant looks fresh and hungry at this point in the season and his career. Could be a factor in the playoffs

The Titans have to improve along the offensive and defensive lines this offseason.

The Packers really like backup TE Brandon Bostick and he will likely be their primary TE next year.

Randall Cobb has emerged to be a strong WR1 in all fantasy formats this season.

JaMaal Charles 86 yard TD run

Reggie Wayne 7 yard TD reception

Notes

JaMaal Charles is so electric but his fumbling and inconsistency limits him to RB2 status in fantasy leagues.

Andrew Luck has 7 game winning drive in the 4th qtr or overtime this year which is tied for most ever.

This Chiefs team has maybe 5 players that they can build around. Other than that they are a complete mess.

This is why you can’t depend on T.Y. Hilton on a weekly basis as he is nothing but a big play WR.

Reggie Bush TD receptions of 1 & 12 yards

Brad Smith 2 yard TD reception

Notes

It’s about time that the Dolphins use Reggie Bush in the passing game. They should bring him back in ’13.

Stevie Johnson had a TD reception overturned due to the ball hitting the ground as Johnson fell.

CJ Spiller is so damn good. He is a sure fire 1st round pick in fantasy leagues next year.

If Bush isn’t back next year watch out for Lamar Miller who has crazy speed and big time upside.

Notes

The sad thing about the Jets QB situation is that Tim Tebow may have lead this team to the playoffs.

It is stunning that the Chargers have won 2 straight games on the East Coast this season.

The past two games does not change my opinion that Antonio Gates career is on the downside.

Both of these teams should be torn down and rebuilt this offseason.

Notes

The 2012 Broncos are prime example of how a good team becomes great with a difference maker at QB.

The Browns completely got away from deep passes to Josh Gordon the past few weeks.

The Broncos have won 10 straight games by 7 points or more.

The Broncos DST are one of the most consistent defenses on a week in and week out basis.

Notes

The Bears offense can completely tear apart a team that doesn’t rush the passer.

I say it every week lately but Ken Whisenhunt needs to be fired after this season.

The Cardinals have not thrown a TD pass in their last 6 games this season.  #Pathetic

The Bears must win next week in Detroit and have Green Bay beat Minnesota to get into the playoffs.

David Wilson 14 yard TD run

Marvin Austin left game with a knee injury

Ray Rice 27 yard TD run

Notes

Imagine that…give the ball to Ray Rice 30 times and the offense move the chains and puts up points.

I hope that nobody started Dennis Pitta this week. I am sure some did but he is as random a TE as there is.

The Giants offense has suffered from bad O-line play, lack of a running game and Eli’s inconsistency.

Nicks belongs in the conversation with McFadden, Mathews & Harvin as players that just can’t be trusted.

Vernon Davis left game with a concussion

Marshawn Lynch TD runs of 9 & 24 yards

Mario Manningham left game with knee injury

Richard Sherman 90 yard blocked FG return for TD

Doug Baldwin TD receptions of 4 & 6 yards

Notes

While I give Russell Wilson a lot of grief, he is playing with a lot of confidence right now and that is a direct

result of the time & preparation he puts into his game.  Still 171 yards a game won’t win Seattle a title.

The 49ers defense had better find its swagger again or it could be an early playoff exit for them this year.

The Kaepernick/Crabtree connection could be a very good under the radar combo for 2013.
