I have to admit that I don’t like bye weeks in fantasy football.  Week 14 did nothing but confirm that in my mind as so many players that I have been high on this year and have on my fantasy teams went off.  Watching Adrian Peterson, Doug Martin, Danario Alexander and Marshawn Lynch go off leaves me with a pit in my stomach as I know a let down is probably coming next week when I need them the most.  Hopefully you guys rode these performances to fantasy success this week and are in position to move on in your leagues playoffs.  Let’s recap everything that happened in week 14 in fantasy football:

Notes

Chris Givens was barely involved in the offense and those 11 catches from last week was an abnomaly

There is no excuse for CJ Spiller only getting 8 touches and with Jackson injury hopefully they figure it out

For the third consecutive week, Steven Jackson was the primary ball carrier with very little Richardson

Stevie Johnson once again proved why is a great asset to have on your team as he plays through injuries

Marvin Jones was heavily involved in the offensive game plan until taking a shot to the head

Dez Bryant was shutdown the entire first half with his entire production coming after half time.

Notes

Trent Richardson loses a 10 yard TD reception due to offensive pass interference on a questionable call

Richardson got incredibly lucky to get the second TD.  Hardesty did the work on the drive and looks better.

Once Bowe injured his ribs, the offense went into the tank for the Chiefs for the rest of the game

Josh Gordon is an every week starter and he is by far Weeden’s favorite target the last few weeks

Locker completely allow the corner back to read the quick pass at the 1 which is picked off for a TD

Donnie Avery 35 yard TD dropped on a perfect throw from Andrew Luck

The play calling got very predictable by the Titans in the 2nd half and Locker did not make any adjustments

Notes

The force feeding of Brandon Marshall is starting to really cost Butler and led to a 56 yard INT returned TD

Devin Hester dropped a potential TD and is just a horrific wide receiver

Jay Cutler with another head injury and Devin Hester with an ankle injury

Mike Williams 1 yard TD reception

Vincent Jackson 13 yard TD reception

Notes

Eagles doctors are either very good or bad with head injuries as Celek was diagnosed 5 minutes after the hit.

I said over and over on Saturday Night’s Fantasy Alarm Show that Bryce Brown would be a bust this week.

Jason Avant’s 1 handed sideline grab was one of the best catches I have seen all season.

Doug Martin broke Cadillac Williams rookie rushing record of 1178 yards.

Dennis Pitta 14 yard TD reception

Ray Rice 7 yard TD run

Notes

Kirk Cousins was 2-2, 26 yards with 1 TD & rush for 2 Point conversion after RGIII left with knee injury.

I am not going to trust either Anquan Boldin or Torrey Smith to win me a game in the fantasy playoffs.

These are two bad defenses right now. The Ravens need to get healthy, the Redskins need to get better.

Alfred Morris fumbled for the second straight game. He also broke the Redskins rookie record for rushes.

Greg Olsen

Injuries

Key Plays

Greg Olsen 25 yard TD reception

Cam Newton 72 yard TD run

Julio Jones 11 yard TD reception

Notes

Cam Newton is almost unstoppable when he is inspired and determined to win.

The Panthers absolutely dominated the first half of this game. They held the ball 24 minutes to 6 for Atlanta

The referees got the call wrong on Roddy White’s 2 point conversion catch that was ruled incomplete.

I would not advise starting either Michael Turner or Jacquizz Rogers the rest of the year.

Shonn Greene 1 yard TD run

Antonio Cromartie left game with a head injury

Montel Owens 32 yard TD run

Notes

For as bad as the Jets offense has been lately the defense is still getting after it day in and day out.

Please don’t go nuts about Montel Owens performance. He still should NOT be started in fantasy leagues.

I am very disappointed in Marcedes Lewis performance today but would start him again next week vs Miami.

The Jets have absolutely no receivers left.  It is absolutely disgusting what they are throwing out there.

Danario Alexander TD receptions of 15 & 39 yards

Malcom Floyd 3 yard TD reception

Mike Wallace 40 yard TD reception

Notes

As bad as Ben Roethlisberger was today his WR’s were even worse dropping passes all over the field.

Phillip Rivers is one of the QB’s in the league that you can never really count out. He is a fierce competitor.

Danario Alexander has proven to be the best WR waiver pickup of 2012.

Spurlock’s performance truly came out of nowhere. I am not adding him this week despite the good game.

Key Plays

Frank Gore 1 yard TD run

Tavares Gooden left game with a rib injury

Anthony Dixon 1 yard TD run

Colin Kaepernick 50 yard TD run

Notes

Kaepernick once again is playing back on his heels more than being aggressive. That is a bad habit to break.

Crabtree and Kaepernick are getting more comfortable with each other finally which is good going forward.

The results don’t show it but I really like Ryan Tannehill’s swagger. He’s going to be a very good QB soon.

It is a great sign that Reggie Bush is being used more in the passing game.  He is a strong RB3 going forward.

Zach Miller 24 yard TD run

Notes

I didn’t think it can get any worse than Ryan Lindley and John Skelton proved me wrong today.

Don’t worry about Lynch. This game was out of hand when they pulled him and it was more precautionary.

Robert Turbin rushed 20 times for 108 yards in relief of Marshawn Lynch.

This was the first time since 2005 that the Seahawks had two players rush for over 100 yards.

Martellus Bennett 6 yard TD reception

Domenik Hixon 5 yard TD reception

Notes

Do not rush out for David Wilson unless you have Bradshaw. There is no way you can start Wilson next week.

Saints are terrible with how they use their RB’s. It’s hard for them to get momentum with such little use.

Please don’t even think about benching Brees next week against the Bucs. He is still a must start every week

Joseph Morgan had 2 catches for 106 yards in this game. He is a big play threat only and not fantasy relevant

Notes

This game was played with a steady dose of snow and wind and on a slippery playing surface.

I would expect a much better effort out of Greg Jennings next week at Chicago.

Kris Durham made an amazing diving one handed catch early in this game. Still not worth a roster spot.

The Packers rushing attack is gaining momentum week by week. Alex Green is a mid line RB3 going forward.
