Week 6 is officially over and I now hate Plaxico Burress more than ever. I just want to load up a van with Plaxico, Ocho Cinco, Percy Harvin and Mike Sims-Walker and drive in deep into the Gulf Of Mexico. None of these WR’s should be started on your fantasy team any more this season and yes, that means Percy Harvin too. Who are you guys hating on this season? Let me know by commenting on this post or hitting me up via email, Facebook or Twitter. Now it’s on with tonight’s news and views from around fantasy football.
Welcome To Hell, Brandon
The Broncos traded WR Brandon Lloyd to St. Louis today for a conditional sixth round draft pick. Considering neither team has anything to play for this season this was an interesting move to say the least. Why anybody would give up anything for Brandon Lloyd is beyond me. He is a nice receiver, for sure, but he isn’t that much better than Brandon Gibson or Danario Alexander and thus why retard their development by brining in Lloyd? With Sam Bradford banged up and his status unclear for week 7, it is going to be awhile before the Rams start producing anything offensively.
As for the Broncos, this is a good move to get something for a player that isn’t part of your future plans while now being able to develop the core of their future. DeMaryius Thomas will be activated in week 7 for the first time all season and should soon become Tim Tebow’s new favorite target. Thomas is a very talented WR who was the team’s first round pick in 2010. He is a must add fantasy WR this week.
Speaking Of The Future Of The Broncos
This is the time to go out and pickup or trade for Knowshon Moreno. His stock is super low right now but with the Broncos going into full on future mode, Moreno is likely to be the team’s main ball carrier in the next couple of weeks. Willis McGahee just isn’t a part of this team’s future and thus will give way to the youngster eventually. The team has to find out what exactly they have in Moreno much like they do with Tebow, Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker.
Did You Hear We Went Viral?
No, none of us contracted H.I.V. or AIDS. But our new commercial for the Law Firm Of BenJarvus Green-Ellis was featured on Sports Illustrated online today as their “video of the day.” If you haven’t seen it already, check it out here and remember to take a look at all of our videos over on Fantasy Alarm TV.
Detroit RB Situation
So, Jahvid Best is injured once again and big surprise, it’s another concussion. This is a real big deal because Best suffered a major head trauma concussion in college and has now had two already this season. The Lions are going to keep their young RB out for at least a week if not more in order to ensure he is fully over his symptoms. So, it will be Maurice Morris who will draw the start for the Lions in week 7 against the Falcons with Keiland Williams handling all of the leftovers. Both player are good additions for this week and could be startable depending on your situation.
Raiders Reach Out To Garrard, He Reaches For A Bottle Of Doan’s
Evidently, the reason why David Garrard hasn’t signed anywhere else since being released by the Jaguars is because he needs surgery on a herniated disc in his back. Why he hasn’t had the procedure yet is the same reason he couldn’t hold onto his starting job. Garrard doesn’t make quick enough decisions. The Raiders are going to have to go elsewhere to find a replacement QB for Jason Campbell or a backup for Kyle Boller.
Monday Night Postgame Thoughts
As I stated in the opening, I officially hate Plaxico Burress. He suits the Jets offense so well yet for whatever reason things just aren’t working out for either side right now and it is killing us fantasy owners in deeper leagues. The Jets have trouble finishing drives, yet have a 6’5” WR with a wingspan of 9 feet who has made a career out of making great endzone grabs in clutch situations. Somehow the Jets haven’t figured this one out and it is getting to the point of no return here soon.
Speaking of not getting it done, I can’t believe that the Shonn Greene experiment continues week after unproductive week. LaDanian Tomlinson looks 10 times as quick and agile as Green each week yet they continue to give Greene the rock. The Jets are a borderline playoff team this season the way they are currently constructed. They need a spark especially on offense and my solution to that problem is Bilal Powell. The rookie RB out of Louisville is a tremendous one cut runner who can break tackles and take it to the house if given a lane. The Jets must start activating Powell on gamedays and put in some cut back runs for him to slash through. It’s going to take something for the Jets offense to be competitive the rest of the way.
Matt Moore wasn’t very good today. Matt Moore wasn’t good at all today. Matt Moore sucked to wholly hell today. I am announcing right here and now that Sage Rosenfels will start the final 6 games of the season for the Dolphins and will post solid numbers in the process. Rosenfels is a guy who everybody has forgotten about but who will get an opportunity later on this year to lead the Dolphins out of the Andrew Luck derby.
