Diamondbacks third basemen Jake Lamb has returned to the lineup and is hitting cleanup on Sunday against the Rockies.

Lamb was out of the lineup yesterday, as a lefty was on the mound against the Diamondbacks. However, he is back in the lineup today against right-hander Chad Bettis. Lamb is just 1-for-12 against Bettis in his career so he will look to turn that around.

Phillies outfielder Odubel Herrera is back in the lineup and hitting leadoff on Sunday against Johnny Cueto and the Giants.

Herrera was out of the starting lineup yesterday, although he did pinch hit. He is back in the lineup today however, and will take on right-hander Johnny Cueto. Herrera has an .864 OPS against right-handed pitchers this season and lefties have hit Cueto better than righties this year so Herrera could be in for a nice day.

Yunel Escobar is not in the Angels lineup on Sunday.

Escobar has been out of the lineup all weekend and his absence continues. Jefry Marte has been filling in for him and that will continue Sunday. However, Marte has been only 1-for-10 in those appearances, and will have a tough matchup today as he and the Angels take on Sonny Gray.

Nationals placed Stephen Strasburg (back) on the 15-day disabled list.

Strasburg was scratched from his start today, which was announced yesterday. However, that has apparently escalated to the point that the team needed to place him on the DL. He had another start pushed back at the beginning of the month, so there had been concern over his health for a somewhat extended amount of time. When he has been healthy, Strasburg has pitched very well as he has a 2.90 ERA and 1.06 WHIP with 118 strikeouts over 93 innings.

David Ortiz is not in the Red Sox lineup on Sunday.

With the Red Sox squaring off against left-hander Martin Perez, Ortiz will get a day off. Ortiz is hitting a respectable .265 against left-handed pitching this season, but the Red Sox are opting to go with recently promoted Bryce Brentz at designated hitter today. Ortiz is having a fantastic year in his final season for the Red Sox, hitting .335 with 18 home runs, 60 RBIs, and an OPS of 1.109. 27-year-old Bryce Brentz will be handling the designated hitter duties and batting sixth for the Red Sox on Sunday.

Dodgers have interest in trading for Jay Bruce.

With Andre Ethier's return timetable up in the air, Joc Pederson is the only left-handed hitting outfielder that the Dodgers have, so they could be looking to acquire one, and you'd be hard pressed to find a better than Bruce. According to Ken Rosenthall Bruce cannot block a trade to the Dodgers. With the Reds already 21 games back of the division lead, it's not out of the realm of possibility that they'd be willing to part ways with some established players in trades. Bruce is having a fantastic year in 2016, hitting .280 this season with 16 home runs and 57 runs batted in with an OPS of .903.

Darren O'Day could come off the 15-day disabled list on the upcoming road trip if everything goes well.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said that O'Day could come off the disabled list on the upcoming road trip if everything went "perfect" with his next sim game and bullpen session. O'Day has been out since June 1st with a hamstring injury, and his rehabilitation has gone a bit slower than expected. If everything goes perfectly he will be able to rejoin the Orioles this week without having to make a rehab appearance, but if he suffers a setback all bets are off. The 33-year-old is 2-1 this season with a 3.15 ERA in 22 appearances.

Justin Smoak (knee) remains out of the Blue Jays lineup on Sunday.

The Blue Jays had originally hoped that Smoak would be able to return to the lineup today, but he'll miss his third game in a row when Toronto takes on the Chicago White Sox. The once highly touted prospect is hitting just .160 in the month of June, which is the second month that he's hit under .200 in this season. Edwin Encarnacion will get the start at first base for the Blue Jays on Sunday, and hit third. Encarnacion has had great success against White Sox pitcher Chris Sale in his career, going 5-for-11 with a home run and two runs batted in.
